'Tai Soh' - The Big Idiot

Introducing....The ALL NEW RETAIL SHOP IN SABAH!

Taisoh or in Japanese known as 'ザ・ダイソー' is the largest franchise of 100-yen shops in Japan. Taisoh has a range of over 90,000 goods, of which over 40 percent are imported goods, many of them from China. Many of these are own-brand goods.

Taisoh sets itself apart from other 100 yen shops by choosing not to sell closeout or factory second merchandise. Instead they keep prices low by purchasing directly from manufacturers in very high volume, a strategy often compared to Wal-mart.

While the prices are low, and in many cases identical items are sold for more elsewhere, in some cases the quality reflects the low price.................this is really not what some of the typical Malaysian here will be thinking.

As I can see, nowadays Malaysian are more demanding in spending their money on anything except for food and entertainment. Cheap and acceptable quality are their first priority in selecting goods in various sizes including cars. The all new Proton Saga for an example; below RM40k (cheap!) and the quality of the car is OK.

We all know 'Taisoh' Japan offers 100Yen per item, 'Taisoh' Singapore offers SGD2 per item and 'Taisoh' Malaysia for RM5.

Let's do some currency comparison:

100Yen to RM: RM3.03
SGD2 to RM: RM4.796

'Taisoh' M'sia: RM5.00!

Currency rate as on 21st of July, 2008.

It cost RM5.00 per item in Malaysia and how much do we earn every month? The 'Kiasus' and 'Japs' earn 3 or even 4 times higher pay than normal Malaysians. Plus it's not worth driving all the way to the other side of the town just to buy an expensive China-made goods in a Japanese franchise shop. Imagine the same goods you can get with a cheaper price you pay for the same China-made item in a Two (2) Ringgit shop???

Guys, seriously think about it.....

Till then, have a nice week and spend wisely.....

-PEACE-
