Brace yourselves, one of the most epic journeys in mixed martial arts history has begun as we scour the country yet again to unearth more local talents at the grass roots level. We head to the edge of the peninsular, erecting the glorious MIMMA cage, for MMA hopefuls in Johor to unleash their talents with the goal of impressing our judges, which will secure them a place to fight in The Malaysian Invasion Mixed Martial Arts Season 3.

Johor always provides a superb mixture of MMA talents and characters thanks to its active involvement in MMA and other stand-alone martial arts. The gyms here also send their amateur fighters to compete in amateur competitions in Singapore. The grand finale was held to reward 44 loyal consumers with pure gold, of which 10 consumers walked away with the grand prize of 500g pure gold worth up to RM85,000 each.

A group shot of all 44 winners of pure gold with the management team of Guinness Anchor Berhad during the grand finale event of GAB CNY 2015.

Ah Boys To Men 3: Frogmen showing in Malaysia from 19th March 2015

After the second installation of Ah Boys to Men, I did not expect for the Singapore director Jack Neo to film the third installation. I have watched The Lion Men which featured most of the original cast from Ah Boys to Men except for Joshua Tan but he did came back for this third installment.

The movie showcases the original casts such as Wang Wei Liang, Tosh Zhang, Joshua Tan, Bunz, Jaspers, Maxi Lim and Charlie. The movie received overwhelming support from the local audience and set a new record in Singapore during the Chinese New Year with an accumulative box office of SGD$2.8mil. Currently the box office has hit SGD$6.4 mil, exceeding the collection for “Ah Boys to Men”. It is set to hit the big screens in Malaysia this March 19. Released by MM2 Entertainment, “Ah Boys to Men 3: Frogmen” is an action comedy about a group of young recruits training in the Singapore Navy. The story follows the new recruits experience and growth while they trained at the Naval Diving Unit (NDU), especially during the toughest “hellweek”.

Synopsis:
Ah Boys to Men 3: Frogmen brings Singapore’s favourite recruits back to the days before enlistment in ABTM. Instead of Pulau Tekong, the Ah Boys are posted to the Naval Diving Unit (NDU). Returning to active duty are familiar characters – Ken Chow (Joshua Tan), the spoilt, rich kid, who tries to 'keng' his way out of NS. Aloysius Jin AKA Wayang King (Maxi Lim), whose over-enthusiasm creates more problems for his cabin mates. Lobang (Wang Weiliang), the street-smart wheeler dealer, out to make a quick buck off his cabin mates. Joining them is new face Hei Long AKA The Black Dragon (Wesley Wong), an aggressive gang leader, who prefers to talk with his fists instead of his mouth. Together, this ragtag band of misfits must somehow survive 40 weeks of training in hell. Do they have what it takes to become one of Singapore’s most fearsome military units – the frogmen?

Photos from the 7th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2015

Something out of the norm when I woke up 5am on a Sunday just to visit Putrajaya for the the 7th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (IHABF) 2015. It's my third time attending the event after the 2nd (link here) and 5th event 2 years back.

Tourim Malaysia hot air balloon gimmick
We reached Putrajaya around 6.45am and the sky was still dark. Why are we at the event even before the sky is bright? It's because most of the hot air balloon will be easier to go up when the air is still cold which is before the sun is up. The heated air inside the balloon makes it buoyant since it has a lower density than the relatively cold air outside the balloon.

ONE: AGE OF CHAMPIONS 2015 Live in Malaysia Full Official Results

ONE Championship™ (ONE) has kicked off 2015 with a spectacular show at the Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Fans were treated to another night of world-class mixed martial arts action with ONE: AGE OF CHAMPIONS. Although I did not attend the fight this round but I did managed to catch Peter Davis, Ann Osman and Gianni Subba's fight on our local channel TV9.

Image taken from ONE Championship Facebook page
In the main event, Adriano Moraes defeated a tenacious Riku Shibuya by Unanimous Decision to retain the ONE Flyweight World Championship belt. ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano Moraes and challenger Riku Shibuya entertained the crowd with a showcase of striking and grappling exchanges in the main event. In the first round, Shibuya came out looking to take the fight to Moraes as the Brazilian worked to get Shibuya to the ground. On the mat, Moraes controlled the action by advancing position multiple times to Shibuya’s back although Shibuya exhibited exceptional defense. In the second, Shibuya did a better job of keeping the fight on the feet as he continued to stalk Moraes across the cage. Rounds three to five saw much of the same action with Shibuya continuing to press as Moraes dominated the ground game. In the end, Moraes’ various takedowns and submission attempts earned him a hard-fought decision.

7th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2015

Back in the year 2010, I first attended the hot air balloon fiesta which was the second year the event was held. You can read my full write up here. The 7th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF) will once again make an appearance at its homeground in Precinct 2, Putrajaya next month. Held over the course of four days from Thursday-Sunday, 12-15 March 2015, this year’s Fiesta features yet again an amazing line-up of international balloonists alongside first-time and upgraded attractions and activities.

The annually anticipated Fiesta to take place from 12-15 March 2015, with feature partnerships including “Supporting Partner” Nescafe Products Sdn Bhd, “Helicopter Joy Rides Sponsor” Amin Faried (M) Sdn Bhd and “Promotional Partner” Gentle Supreme Sdn Bhd
The Fiesta’s lineup of activities and international balloonists, event programme and sponsors were revealed today at a press conference event held at Dewan Sri Siantan, Putrajaya Corporation Complex. Nur Izzati Khairudin, Event Director of the 7th PIHABF shared: “We are excited to once again present a world-class lineup of talented international balloonists, and to grow our on-ground activities such as the addition of MyBalloonClub this year. The Fiesta is a homegrown event that supports the nation’s goal of being a major tourist destination, and with a large number of local and international attendees we are able to continue to offer great visibility and opportunities to our event partners and sponsors,” she said. The 7th PIHABF is one of the main events listed in Perbadanan Putrajaya’s Calendar of Events.
