Momochan Japanese Restaurant @ Jaya One (Pork Free Food Review)

I've always been a big fan of Japanese cuisine and sometimes I can be quite bored of having the similar classic Japanese dishes. The good news is that I found a fusion Japanese restaurant in Petaling Jaya.

This premise which is located at The Square in Jaya One, offers a wide variety of Japanese Donburi, Teishoku , Japanese Karaage and Japanese desserts as well. Let's check out what Momochan has to offer.

First, we had the Shitake Nanban (RM12.90). The Nanban sauce is a vinegar sauce, which gives a bit of a tart flavour, and is served paired with their very own home made tar tar sauce. The batter was deep fried perfectly, and when cut open, the mushroom itself is juicy enough that it's not too dry. Definitely one of my favorite dish in Momochan.

Next up, we had the Japanese Karaage Winglets (RM12.90). I love deep fried chicken wings and these wings are cooked with Momochan's signature home made karaage powder. The meat is tender and juicy with the right amount of crispiness from the skin! Yumz~!

Then, we had the Plain Chawanmushi with Yuzu Chili (RM5.90). Made from bonito flakes and seaweed is poured on top with a dash of wasabi. A simple but lovely dish to have.

Here comes the favorite part of the review, it's the Japanese Southern Fried Chicken (RM20.90). Consist of a quarter chicken that has been marinated in buttermilk, battered, and fried, and comes with home made wasabi coleslaw, and home made gravy, which has been prepared with chicken stock. Definitely recommended and a must order in Momochan.

Something for the Christmas festival, it's the Christmas Beef Special (RM31.90). A luxurious dish at an affordable price, this plate consist of 150g Australian Tenderloin which has lightly chargrilled to perfection and served with Japanese ponzu as a side, drizzled with grated radish sauce.

As funny as the name gets, Momochan Loves Vegetables (RM18.90) is a dish that deserves mentioning. Visually it looks like a normal spaghetti dish with  tempura enoki mushrooms but it actually uses ramen noodles instead of spaghetti with homemade tomato sauce and pumpkin puree.

Last but not least, time for dessert. We had the Homemade Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream (RM11.90) which is the perfect ending for a delightful meal.
