The Bud Cup Press Conference‏

Yo! Are you a football fan or enjoy playing football and at the same time you just can't resist a good beer? Here's a good news for people like you. On the 9th of June 2011, the subsidiary of Carlsberg Malaysia, Luen Heng F&B Sdn Bhd (LHFB), kick-start its search for an inaugural Malaysian Team to participate in the Bud Cup 6V6.


LHFB, being the sole importer and distributor of Budweiser and the official beer of 2011 COPA America is rewarding its customers a “once a lifetime experience” – to live their dreams of representing Malaysia at an international tournament to held at the renowned stadium, la Bombonera, home of Boca Jr. Football Club in Argentina. The lucky participants will also witness the quarter-final and semi-final of the COPA America. Joining the guests at the launch today was the legendary national footballer, Yang Berbahagia Datuk Soh Chin Ann who has been appointed as the honourable Team Manager for Malaysia Bud Cup team.





“The team compromising eight (8) members will be selected from different channels, which include our end consumers, trade partners and members of media,” said Sean Soh, Commercial Manager of LHFB, at the Media Launch of Bud Cup 6v6 today.

“We are very pleased to have Yg Berbahagia Datuk Soh on board with us. The lucky team members will be trained and groomed by Datuk Soh” added Soh.




Over the years, Budweiser has been actively involved in sports and since 1986, it has strengthened its position by being the “official beer” of the FIFA World Cup™. This sponsorship will continue until 2014. “Last Year I have attended the “2010 Global Beer Champions 6v6 Soccer tournament”, also known as the “Budweiser Cup”, in South Africa. The competition was very intense and exciting. This year we decided to bring it to our shores to demonstrate Luen Heng’s continued commitment to further develop football in this country.”

Bud Cup History

The Bud Cup started in 1998 and was part of Budweiser’s FIFA World Cup sponsorship platform as a marketing and promotional asset for local markets. The whole idea of the International 6 v 6 tournaments is to bring consumers together to celebrate their love of beer and their passion for football.

 Budweiser actually is also a German adjective which means something or someone from the city of České Budějovice in Southern Bohemia, Czech Republic.
