Tong Pak Fu @ Midvalley Megamall

Most of you might have heard the name Tong Pak Fu before, especially if you have studied about the Chinese history, one of the famous Ming Dynasty scholar. In this post, I will not be talking about that but instead I will introduce you to the award-winning Hong Kong dessert house namely, Tong Pak Fu. This particular dessert house reached the Malaysian shores since last year and are currently offering some of their best quality of hot, cold and western desserts!

Black Glutinous Rice Cream with Coconut Milk RM 5.80
The black glutinous rice cream with coconut milk is probably one of the must try in their menu. Majority of us at the reviews felt that this hot dessert tasted so good that most of us can't stop eating it but we had to stop anyway to make way for the rest of the desserts. Not too sweet and quite thick, just the way I like it so I'm recommending this to all of my readers!

Black Sesame Cream RM 5.80

Next is the black sesame cream. As you can see in the picture above, the texture of the dessert is very thick and smooth, it gives a slight bitter and sweet taste in every scoop. They actually fry, ground and cook the black sesame cream so it's really fresh out of the kitchen. To those who can't take black sesame might want to avoid this! Haha...

Guava Snow Ice RM8.80 regular / RM 11.80 large
The Guava Snow Ice is probably the best selling item in Tong Pak Fu. I couldn't agree more. The guava snow ice is topped with mango sauce and comes with jelly and syrup ball. Pretty refreshing!

Ginger Snow Ice RM 8.80 regular / RM 11.80 large
Next on the snow ice list is the Ginger Snow Ice that has a little stronger taste than the previous Guava Snow Ice. Black pearls, mango cubes and syrup balls at the side, the ginger snow ice gives a slight spiciness at the tip of the tongue. So for those who can't take spicy food at all, don't ever order this unless you really wanted to challenge yourself. Anyway, ginger is believed to be used as one of the ingredient to treat cancer and migraine :)

Tracka Durian Snow Ice RM 11.80 regular / RM 14.80 large
Tip: The Tracka Durian Snow Ice should be ordered as the last snow ice dessert because of the strong durian taste that might overpower the taste of the other snow ice. What I find interesting as well is the cornflakes which they used for this. Imagine having durian and cornflakes together... what a combination! LOL

Chilled mango sago crème with pomelo and mango ice-cream RM 10.80 (bowl/ cup)
Sorry to say but I actually find the combination of pomelo and mango doesn't go very well for this dessert plus the price might be a little bit overpriced for a simple dessert like this.

Chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice-cream RM 12.80
The Swiss chocolate lava cake is well known among the dessert lovers for the warm and smooth chocolate liquid that pures out from the inside. Somehow that didn't happen, it seems that the baking temperature might not be accurate. Anyway, the vanilla ice cream was most likely to be edible.

Double Boiled Papaya with Snow Fungus RM 8.80
The combination of papaya and snow fungus creates a very delightful sweetness. It's warm and nourishing! Good to have this during a rainy cold day! :D

Mango Napoleon with vanilla ice-cream RM 10.80
I like the crispiness of the top layer of the Mango Napoleon and the sweetness of the custard cream enhanced by the sugar power. Separately having the mango alone, I can't taste any sweetness in it since my tongue has already been sweeten up by all the previous desserts.

Curry fish balls RM 6.80
The best part doesn't end at the dessert, their curry fish balls were also very good! It's not the typical curry fish balls that we can get from 'pasar malam' (night market), those are the small ones. This one is much bigger and really worth its price. The curry gravy is fantabulous!

Glutinous Rice Balls with Black Sesame & Peanut Toppings RM 4.80
The glutinous rice balls doesn't appear to be nice to see but it's actually nice to eat. Not really sweet and those who dislike Black Sesame may want to try this. It might change the way you think about black sesame.

Thousand Flower Tea (Qian Ri Hua Cha) RM7.80
The 'Qian Ri Hua Cha is rich in anti-oxidant which helps to improves skin complexion and helps delay aging process. So for those who are feeling old these days can try this out and perhaps you may feel younger by 3 or 5 years! (No guarantee though!)

The menu at Tong Pak Fu... the cartoons on it are the founder, Ben and Man Li. Overall, I really like the black glutinous rice cream, some of the snow ice and curry fish balls. The snow ice is really fine and doesn't easily melt but It would be better if the price for the regular snow ice can be lowered down to RM8.00 or RM9.00.

Some interior shots of the outlet.

I like the wooden wall, hanging table lamp and also the steel fan.
