My Experience at the Western Digital Demo Days!

On the 19th of August, I headed over to Plaza Lowyat for the Wester Digital Demo Days at the Viewnet store to check out some of the Western Digital products there especially the My Book Live Duo. Initially, I was quite curious to find out the new features which are being offered on that product and wanted to find out how it works.

Basically, the Western Digital Demo Days showcased the My Book Live and My Book Live Duo product, not to forget the demonstration of the file viewer app, the WD 2go™. The app basically is a Western Digital’s new remote access solution for connecting to the My Book® Live™ home network drive. That's really convenient for those who prefer carrying their mobile devices instead of laptop/notebook. You can now listen to any music that you have in the storage at a few clicks. Available for download for iOS, Android and Blackberry devices too.

Do you think that the WD My Book Live is currently the next generation storage and back up system for our computers? Lets take a look on some of the things that I have highlighted below.

The physical hard disk that can be detached from the housing for maintenance purposes.
Everyone knows that a conventional hard disk is only used to be a file storage or back up device but what's different about this product is that you can download files directly from any of your gadgets/devices such as mobile phone, tablet or laptop anywhere in the world once the product is connected to the internet. In another word, it's a personal cloud storage system and it's more than 2GB (which is offered in the normal account of a Dropbox user).

I was also quite fond of the idea to have a back-up storage of an external hard disk, hence the physical hard disk can be detached from the housing and also you can plug in any other external hard disk that you desire. That's pretty dope I must say! Although the price was not cheap but for people like me who often take high resolution pictures and videos, this is what I must have. I can't afford to spent my time burning DVDs or transferring all those files into another external hard disk yet I can't access to them anytime and anywhere I want.

If you are wondering how many files that you might be able to store, the chart below might be helpful to you:-

With 4TB of storage, it can hold up to 1million songs! I'm not sure if I can listen to all of them with my entire life span! LOL

Overall, WD My Book Live and My Book Live Duo is for those who want to access everything that they have anytime, anywhere provided there's an internet connection.
