Sushi Tei @ Setia City Mall, Shah Alam

I've never visited Setia City Mall before although it has been officially opened for a few months back and there was also I had missed the Michael Learns To Rock (MLRT) concert which was held at the venue. This time round, I was pretty excited visit the shopping mall for the first time thanks to the invited food review at Sushi Tei in Setia City Mall. My very first food encounter of Sushi Tei was at their Tropicana City Mall branch.

An interior shot of Sushi Tei.
Sushi Tei is no ordinaire Japanese dining restaurant, which they believe in providing an ethereal with an alluring ambience more than a dining experience just for the customers by setting it apart from the norm. From what I've seen, Sushi Tei is suitable for family, friends, couples and also casual dining.

One of their many dining tables in the restaurant.
Without taking much of my time writing a long post, let's proceed to some of the food that we had on that very evening.

Cooked Salmon with Soba
I'm sure most of you are familiar with soba which is the Japanese thin noodle made from buckwheat flour and often serve in either cold or hot. I'm not really a big fan of soba but this one was an exception. The cooked salmons on top of the soba was really good too!

Collagen Salmon Roll (RM23.80)
Some of you might asked why is this dish called the Collagen Salmon Roll? Well the answer is, there were really pieces of collagen on top of the salmon roll. As far as I know, Collagen is a protein and the benefits of collagen are many and varied and are good for everyone, regardless of age. So you can enjoy the good food which is good for our health at the same time. Isn't that great?

Hotate Teriyaki (RM 9.80)
I really enjoy eating the Hotate Teriyaki, which were the grilled clams with teriyaki sauce on it.

Grilled Yellow Tailed Cheek
Chawanmushi
The omnipresent chawanmushi, a familiar Japanese favourite at all Japanese restaurants. This dish was smooth, not too hot, and very easy to swallow.

Soft Shell Crabs
Ebi Misomayo
Ebi Misomayo is grilled king prawn and topped with a generous amount of miso and mayonnaise. It's delicious and a prawn lover like me sure must order this dish to try it out!

Crunchy Tuna
Something new to everyone, this Crunchy Tuna is tuna and chopped garnishing rolled in nori and then deep fried to crisp! Yet another yummy delicacy in Sushi Tei. Love the crispy on the outside, soft and yummy on the inside.

Kani Ikura Chahan
As if we didn’t have enough to eat, we even have this Kani Ikura Chahan. This is one luxurious fried rice. Cooked over a fiery wok with crab meat and served with salmon roe.

The Biei
The Biei has 5 kinds of sashimi on it. The ootoro (fatty belly tuna), amaebi (sweet shrimp), nama hotate (scallops), mackeral and tako. I really like the fresh juicy flavours you get out from the raw seafood from this dish.

Saba
Fried Chicken Skin
The Fried Chicken Skin was simply the favorite snack of the night! I can have the whole bowl on my own if only I was brave enough to do so! :P

Fried Salmon Skin
Volcano Roll
I didn't know what to expect with Volcano Roll since I have never came across this name before. It turns out to be a play of unagi, cream cheese and flying fish roe. Tasted awesome though it can get a tad rich (oily) for some when you combine the rich unagi with cream cheese and roe but its so good that if you order for sharing, it will go well.

Teriyaki Steak with Garlic
My favorite dish in Sushi Tei, it just had to be the Teriyaki Steak with Garlic. I had never expected to taste a really good steak in a japanese restaurant with its incredibly good teriyaki sauce and deep fried crunchy garlic to accompany the savory piece of meat.

Salmon Sashimi
There's always been a must for me to have salmon in a Japanese restaurant and what I can comment about the Salmon Sashimi which I had above was indeed very fresh and the juiciness of the salmon can't be simply express in words.

Choya for those who wants to have some plum liqueur with their Japanese food.
Onsen Tamago
A must have for egg lovers at Sushu Tei is the Onsen Tamago. Eat it as soon as it arrives so that the yolk does not overcook. Served with some dashi and some chopped seaweed, the art of eating is to mix it a little and slurp it up straight from the bowl. Yes forget the spoon since its only for you to mix the egg with the dashi.

Green Tea & Black Sesame Homemade Ice-cream
As for desserts, we had Sushi Tei’s very own homemade ice cream, using fresh ingredients.

Le gf lovin' the homemade ice-cream dessert! :)

Overall, the food was good and I am sure that the variety of Japanese food in Sushi Tei can compete with other local Japanese restaurant with their food which is not too pricy and a great ambience especially for group dining and families.
