ABSOLUT ELYX unveiled at View Rooftop Bar’s First Anniversary Celebration‏

Last month on the 12.12.12, which is the last major numerical date using the Gregorian or Christian calendar for almost another century. Some got married and some went to party with friends on that special day. As for me, I went to View Rooftop Bar at GTower for the launch of the roaring and audacious 1920s, ABSOLUT ELYX.



The ABSOLUT ELYX is a Swedish vodka house's latest copper-toned beauty, is an ode to traditional spirit- making techniques. The bottle itself, a stylishly square reinterpretation of ABSOLUT's famous bottle design, is an immediate visual reference to the lovingly hand-operated distillation of this new premium ambrosia.

Inspired by 500 years of vodka making expertise, ABSOLUT has spent the last decade inventing a new vodka. Crafted from hand-selected estate wheat, and blended with soft and naturally filtered water, ABSOLUT ELYX is a true expression of quality. It is a small-scale vodka, produced according to craft techniques, in an authentic 1929 copper rectification still. The result: a handcrafted super premium vodka with an elegant, silky texture.

The dazzling double celebration’s guest list read like a who’s who of Malaysia, attended by His Excellency Bengt G. Carlsson Swedish Ambassador to Malaysia who led the guests in a Swedish toast and accepted a specially commissioned Absolut Elyx bottle, other corporate captains, media industry luminaries, celebrities and socialites. Beautifully crafted canapés created by award winning Tanzini Restaurant’s Chefs were paired with the premium brand, showcasing fresh flavours.

The bloggers and myself had a good time with each others company, good food and great vodka at the launch.

GTower’s foyer was transformed into a tasting area for each guest to enjoy a blind tasting of ABSOLUT ELYX along with other premium vodkas prior to ascending to View Rooftop Bar. Tasting blind compelled the invitees to concentrate on every tiny aspect of the vodka to formulate an unbiased opinion. Guests took the time to follow the five ‘S’ steps to tasting a vodka: see, swirl, sniff, sip and savour. The evaluation given for ABSOLUT ELYX was incomparable with emphasis being placed on its exceptionally smooth and lingering finish, tantalizing spicy undertones and its invigorating floral and fruity bouquet.
