Media Launch of Huawei Ascend P6

After the success of the Huawei Ascend P1 which was launched early last year, Huawei has continuously producing more and more new smartphone model especially in the high end range. The success was proven in 2012, whereby Huawei's market share in the rollout of China Mobile's test network for 4G was higher than that of foreign competitors such as Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent SA, according to researcher IHS. Huawei has also continue to reap the windfall of smartphone sales in China, which has become one of the world's largest smartphone market.

Today, Huawei Malaysia has launched one of their latest high end smartphone model - Huawei Ascend P6. The design is pretty much similar with the P1 or P2 with the rectangular concept but it is more curvy and some even said that it looks like Apple iPhone 5 minus the home button.

The launch took place at Grand Salon, Grand Hyatt Hotel KL

White colour Huawei Ascend P6
The rear part of Huawei Ascend P6. Camera and LED flash on the top left and the speaker at the bottom left.
Pink colour Huawei Ascend P6, I think it would be better if it has a little darker pink tone.
The left side where we can see the earplug jack at the bottom.
The right side has the On/Off button, volume control (which also can be use to snap picture), the micro SD slot and the micro SIM slot.
The earplug jack has a cover that also works as a pin to push out the micro SIM and micro SD slot.
Here how it works. I find it quite convenient but the chances that you might lost this small little pin is high when you are plugging in your earplug into the jack. So where can we keep this? Perhaps in our wallet?
Here's what I think about this device:-

Good: It's very slim! Only 6.18mm (iPhone 5 is at 7.6mm). The size is just right for my hand, screen is sharp and the display size is not too big for me. The interface is quite smooth, using the Android 4.2.2 operating system, rear camera quality is pretty decent with a few good functions like HDR, panorama etc and front camera is one of the best with integrated beauty mode.

Bad: Audio quality is below average but acceptable, device seems to heat up very quick, the built quality for the back seems cheap, the earplug metal cover with pin at the bottom left may cause discomfort, non removable battery and lastly, price is too close with the Huawei Ascend Mate.

Recommended retail price for Huawei Ascend P6 is RM1,399 with black and white colour available now and pink colour to release by end of October. For more information and latest update from Huawei Malaysia, check out their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/HuaweiDeviceMY?fref=ts
