Pacific Rim (2013) Movie Review

Have you watched Pacific Rim? I did and I have watched it twice thanks to Cathay Cineplex. It's still a pretty good watch although I've already know the entire storyline.

Synopsis: When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes - a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) - who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Director: Guillermo del Toro

Conclusion: If you grew up watching Ultraman, Godzilla, Power Rangers, Transformers or Neon Genesis Evangelion, you will find this movie exciting and interesting. The monsters, kaiju which they have created are pretty bad ass and they are not like those stupid monsters in Ultraman. Although the Jaegar unnecessarily piloted by two human being instead of a solo pilot but it seems to have created some sort of emotional element when either one of them is killed in the battle. It would also be better if they have given the other Jaegars, Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha more screen time but I guess they prefer to focus on Gipsy Danger instead. I'm looking forward to the sequel of this.

Rating: 4 / 5
