Brotzeit German Beer Bar & Restaurant @ Mid Valley (Food Review)

Octoberfest is coming in two weeks time and I'm pretty sure a lot of beer enthusiast guys out there are looking forward to this celebration! Although this celebration is celebrated annually in Munich but we do celebrate it in our own ways here in Malaysia. Brotzeit German Beer Bar & Restaurant flagship outlet at Mid Valley will observe this tradition by having its very own official tapping of the first Octoberfest bier barrel.

When there's beer, it's always great to be accompanied with good company and definitely good food! At this food review, not only we get to try their Octoberfest platter but we also get to try different dishes, desserts and various beer offered by them.

Brotzeit offers both indoor and outdoor dining options, in a chic and contemporary styled restaurant. We boasts the best of Bavarian cuisine, serving up grassroots cuisine from the beautiful south-eastern state of Germany and offering the widest range of premium biers from the Paulaner family of biers.

From what I heard, the Germans love to drink beers but they would prefer to have it with a twist of sweetness so usually the beers are mixed which is known as Biermischgetränke. During winter days, they would have a pint of Biermischgetränke in their hands and chatting with their mates in the pub during winter. They sure know how to live their life to the fullest.

From left to right: Radler, Bayrischer Longdrink, Churchill, Affensaft, Russ'n and Schwarzer
Radler: Original Munich Lager with Sprite.
Bayrischer Longdrink: Vodka, lime juice, Original Münchner Urtyp
Churchill: Compari with Original Münchner Urtyp
Affensaft: Weissbier with banana or mango juice
Russ'n: Weissbier with Sprite
Schwarzer: Weissbier with Coke

Salad mit Schafskase/ Feta Salad
This is mixed salad with feta cheese, red bell peppers, semi-dried tomatoes, onions, olives, garlic croutons and sour cream tossed with house dressing. The portion of this salad is easily good for 2-3 pax or even more. The combination of the sour cream and house dressing gives a very appetizing touch onto the salad. For those who doesn't like heavy feta cheese taste, you can still scoop it out from the salad.

Brotzeitflade Speck/ Bacon Pizza
This pizza consist of tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, bacon, onions, vine ripened tomatoes and chili. This is one of the best pizza I've ever tasted. It's tasty, not too cheesy, crispy and spicy thanks to the chili padi.

As for the main dish, we had the Oktoberfest Platter which is not available yet on the menu. This sharing platter for 5-6 friends or family is only available during Oktoberfest from 21st September to 31st October 2013. Chef Helmut's specially crafted Oktoberfest Platter priced at RM258++.

This platter comes with Brotzeit Signature Pork Knuckle, Oven Roasted Chicken, Gipsy Bacon, Lumberjack Steak and Garlic Pork Sausages. It is served with sauerkraut and potato salad. I like the sausage, roasted chicken and bacon but I find that the lumberjack steak was a little dry for my liking and the pork knuckle is quite oily.

After the main dish, we had dessert, four type of different desserts to be accurate.

Bavarian Orange Trifle
The Bavarian Orange Trifle is consisting of refreshing layers of triple sec of rum and orange infused sponge fingers and fresh cream. The best way to eat this is to scoop from the top to the bottom to experience the full sweet and sour of this.

Sweet & Savoury Duo
This sweet and savoury duo are made with crispy chocolate bacon on white chocolate mousse with lemon pepper marinated strawberries and apricot sauce. Yes real bacon is used to make the crispy chocolate bacon.

Profiterole Duet
Next up is the Profiterole Duet. This is a chocolate profiterole with vanilla ice cream and cinnamon sugar apple fritter on vanila sauce.  The vanilla ice cream got my attention. it's soft and not too sweet for my liking.

Kaiserchmarren/ Emperor's Cake
Last but not least, the Emperor's cake derived from shredded pancake with rum and raisin served with plum sauce.

Affensaft - Weissbier with banana or mango juice is still my favorite beer of all.
For those who are in Mid Valley during lunch hour, you might want to drop by to try their lunch specials menu that comes with FREE Ice Lemon Tea.
