Last week, I had my lunch at one of the Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks outlet nearby my workplace. They are currently offering a new product in conjunction of Chinese New Year, which is the Salted Egg Yolk Crispy Chicken.
The Salted Egg Yolk Crispy Chicken (RM9.90) is similar to the signature XXL Crispy Chicken but coated with salted egg yolk sauce. Other than the chicken, there's also two new drinks which is the Tarok Milk Blended and Papaya Milk Blended. Both are priced at RM5.90 or we can opt for the combo at RM15.50 for the chicken and any of the two drinks.

While waiting for the Salted Egg Yolk Crispy Chicken to be ready, I munched on one of my favorite – the Seafood Tempura.
The staff carefully coating the crispy chicken with the salted egg yolk sauce.
Finally got my Salted Egg Yolk Crispy Chicken after waited for about 5 minutes.
Here's a close up at the Salted Egg Yolk Crispy Chicken.
Every order comes with a packet of their limited edition Hong Bao. There's two design to choose from. I wanted to try the Papaya Milk Blended but they ran out of stock. Apparently their new drinks and chicken were so popular that it's sold out really fast at some of the outlet.
Here's my verdict on the Salted Egg Yolk Crispy Chicken. The crispy chicken did not disappoint me. The chicken is tender and the skin was crispy. The salted egg yolk sauce was towards the sweet side rather than being salty. Somehow it managed to balance up the saltiness from the chicken to create an overall savory taste. It has to be eaten right away and take-away is not recommended or else it will get too soggy from the salted egg sauce.
As for the Taro Milk Blended, it's slightly too sweet for my liking and after drinking it, I will still have to wash down with some plain water. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy drinking taro milk blended but I think others might like this more than I do.
So have you tried their new Salted Egg Yolk Crispy Chicken yet? If yes, do let me know in the comments section down below. I would like to know what you think about it. For those who have not tried it, you have until 27th of January, this Friday to get it.
