Seafood Cajun ala Shell Out Promotion at Apps Hotel, Kuala Selangor (Food Review)

I was invited to Apps Hotel which is located at Kuala Selangor to check out their latest addition Seafood Cajun ala shell out promotion. It seems to be the current food trend to be catch on since there's a lot of similar concept happening around Klang Valley.

Apps Hotel and restaurant opened to the public in 2013. 
 The large open air spaces has a relaxing ambiance, with basic tables and chairs, with an elevated area for more tables, and round tables. It’s got the seaside concept, fancy beverage and friendly staff on a comfort-food menu stressing local ingredients and product.



The dish comes with 4 choices of sauces, Asam Pedas, Butter Lemon, Kam Heong and Original Cajun BBQ. We can order seafood ingredients as a set, ala carte or even in ‘Sizzling’ version. 


Other than the Seafood Cajun ala shell out, they did served us Coconut Tomyam.



The Coconut Tomyam is rich with flavor, it's spiciness is really up to my liking and the chicken meat was really well cooked as well.


The next dish which was served to us was the deep fried crispy kale (kangkung) and topped with sweet and sourish sauce. It was an interesting appetiser dish.


As for the Seafood Cajun ala shell out, the kitchen will cook them in our choice of sauces, dumped from a plastic bag onto our table, along with vinyl gloves and tools for shelling, so we can get to work. The cracking is done at the table, not in the kitchen. We managed to try out the Asam Pedas sauce which was created by themselves.




This portion above as we can see is suitable for two person. It has crab, prawn, lala, bamboo lala and corn on cob. When the meal is over, the paper comes off and the tables are wiped down. This is neither casual eating nor fine dining. It’s event entertainment. It may be messy, but there’s a phenomenal amount of talent in the restaurant. It will be exciting to watch as they tweak and refine the menu.


Other new additional in the menu such as Cheezy French Fries, Honey Chicken Wings, Calamari Rings, Butterfly Prawn, Melawati Banana Split add variety to main menu. While Signature Coconut Prawn, Nyonya Steamed Fish, Fried Crispy Kangkong & Homemade Pandan Chicken had been signature dishes over the past 3 years.



Drawing on the inspiration of Marketing Director, Kishen Sreedharan with Chef Man & Chef Steven creative vision, they introduces a new overall concept for Kuala Selangor.



The concept behind it is to make sure people were getting a great portion, great price and great food plus we practice ‘Sea to table’ concept whereby all fresh seafood brought in daily thanks to partnership with local fisherman. Starting from Rm 39.90+, you can enjoy a new journey in latest food craze.
