PUMA Malaysia Celebrates 50th Anniversary of PUMA Suede with ‘House of Legends’

Not long ago, I dropped by at Sunway Pyramid to check out the House of Legends Exhibition in conjunction of PUMA Suede's 50th Anniversary celebration. Being one of their most iconic sneakers of all-time; the PUMA Suede, has been ushering in unique drops of exclusive Suedes over the course of the year.

The House of Legends Exhibition in celebration of PUMA Suede 50th Anniversary took place in Sunway Pyramid shopping mall

The Suede hit the scene in 1968 and has since became a real game changer in sport and culture. From the courts to the curbs, from ‘80s b-boys to today’s hustlers, it’s been worn by the icons of every generation – and it’s stayed classic through it all.

Paying homage to the sneaker's legacy in the music world, the streets, the fashion industry and pop culture, PUMA has collaborated with various global and local brands and icons to deliver classic silhouettes of the Suede sneaker.

The House of Legends

PUMA recently built the ‘House of Legends’, an enticing exhibition in Sunway Pyramid which showcased the best of global and local collaborations of the iconic Suede. Among the global collections that were showcased include existing collaborations with the likes of anime superhero Hello Kitty, streetwear brand FUBU, illustrator Michael Lau, and also the return of the OG PUMA Suede and the 'B-Boy' pack amongst others.

One of my favorite streetwear brand, FUBU back in my Hip-Hop era.

For those Hello Kitty lovers, this is a must have!

Did you know? Rudolf "Rudi" Dassler was the German founder of the sportswear company Puma and the older brother of Adidas founder, Adolf "Adi" Dassler.

Collaboration with Local Legends

On the local front, PUMA has also collaborated with local icons to produce exclusive PUMA Suedes that will celebrate each artist and their contributions to their respective industries. Working with local icons such as award-winning music producer and film director Yusry KRU, singer Sam from Bunkface, fashion label owner and designer Khoon Hooi, renowned scribble artist Vince Low and many others, PUMA took the opportunity to showcase these local collaboration Suedes for the first time to the public.

Who doesn't know Yusry from KRU? The band who was made famous with the songs like "Awas", "Apa Saja", "The Way We Jam" and many more.

The 3-day exhibition gave the public an opportunity to participate in Suede Design customization contest, and in line with the legacy of Suede B- Boy culture, B-Boy performance and battles also took place at the venue.

There were many participants took place for the B-Boy battle from young to old, male and female as well.

Celebrating PUMA Suede’s 50th anniversary also means that the year is full with special drops as PUMA collaborate with prominent brands such as Pepsi, MAC Cosmetics, Swarovski, Barbie, and other labels to continue the Suede legacy.

One of the PUMA Suede collection that I find to be very interesting. This Suede 50 Embelished does come in white too!
