Next weekend, Malaysia will once again host the upcoming ESL One Genting 2018. For the second time running, Red Bull Product of Europe (Red Bull) is the official energy drink of the tournament and ESL One globally. The collaboration follows after previous success at events such as ESL One Frankfurt and ESL One Cologne, with initial cooperation extending as far back to 2012. The energy drink company is no stranger to the world of ESports as it has been playing an active role in the arena with tournaments such as the Red Bull Battle Grounds, Red Bull Player One and Red Bull Kumite.

Last year, the tournament played host to eight teams, which included three directly invited teams and five teams each represented qualifying regions of Americas, China, Europe, Malaysia and Southeast Asia. In the finals, Digital Chaos defeated Newbee 3-2 in a very close encounter to win the tournament. The 3rd place of the tournament went to The International 2016 champions, Wings Gaming and Virtus.pro.

The main event of the tournament took place at Arena of Stars, a musical amphitheater with capacity around 6,000 seats, located at Genting Highlands. Due to the massive support of Dota 2 in Southeast Asia, ESL One chose to host the tournament in Malaysia for the second time running.
