A Jewel Unveiled Cocktail Party @ InterContinental Kuala Lumpur

Not too long ago, I was invited for the cocktail party with champagne, canapés and classical music at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur. The main objectives of the cocktail party was also to showcase their newly renovated lobby complete with a first-of-its-kind Concierge Lounge and new reception area.

The very last time when I visited the hotel was 2 months back during the IHG Race Around The World 2012 by InterContinental Kuala Lumpur when the lobby was still under renovation. Not to brag about it but I was quite amazed with the drastic change to their lobby and reception area compared to the time when I was there for a food review at Tatsu and a video audition for Samsung.

The new lobby

P49 Deesign, an interior design practice based in Thailand, brings their experience and expertise in hospitality design to this project, conceptualizing the look for the renovation. They have renovated the lobby and reception area but they still retained the old staircase which gives a refinement and old charms to the whole new concept. As you can see on the picture above, one of their highlights were the crystal raindrops chandelier lights which gives a very classy impression to the lobby.

Harpist in action
The evening was filled with some soothing sound of harp classical music played by the harpist.

The renovated lobby will reflect a new modern yet elegant design that is influenced by the geometric shape and sparkle of jewels. The color scheme and textile materials used were designed with this jewel influence in mind. The 3D walls on the  Concierge Lounge reminds me of the Sephora building in Bukit Bintang.

A pretty nice spot to have a casual meeting.

The decorations on the ceiling that leads to Tatsu.

The staff preparing a very unique cocktail named Bejeweled, which matches the cocktail party.
We had red wine and a lot of different drinks besides champagne.

The chef were preparing the Peking Duck Wraps, cutting off the crispy skin from the duck meat.

These are the Peking duck wraps which I think I had more than 10 of them. Too good to stop eating!

The presentation simply looks appetizing!

Chicken, Beef and Salmon Skewer that are best to have with the cocktails.

Yummy! Where to get the sauce? Check out the fondue below:

Awesome right?

After an hour, we were brought on a tour to their newly refurbished grand premier rooms and experience the new look with our own eyes!

The Grand Premier rooms at 42 square meters feature warm earth tones and plush fabrics that strike a balance of elegance and comfort. The rooms are outfitted with a super-king-sized bed or super-twin-sized beds topped with Cosy Dreamz pillows for a luxurious sleep.

The sleek adjustable 40-inch flat screen Samsung LED TV.
Thanks to the lovely model for showing us the adjustable  TV.

Those who own an iPhone or an iPod can dock their device here at the iPod docking station with quite an impressive audio sound. This docking station is not cheap, can easily cost more than RM500.

A spacious glass work desk with ergonomic chair equipped with a desk-level multi-media hub with wireless high speed internet access allows for working in comfort. Choose to work in comfort or relax in luxury at RM480.00++

For those who want to charge their mobile via USB, they provide USB sockets.
They also provide high speed wireless internet access. That's convenient!

This is their windowed see through toilet, so while having a shower in the bath tub, you can still watch your favorite program on the TV. Other added enhancements include a high flow rain shower for that ultimate luxury.

The girls were delighted to see the high flow rain shower.
