The Smurfs 2 (Movie Review)

Back in 2011, The Smurfs first movie was released as an American 3D family comedy film loosely based on The Smurfs comic book series. I did manage to catch that movie in the cinema thanks to Nuffnang and I've reviewed it in this link here. So after 2 years, the Smurfs are back again with more smurfcited action and comedy. Again, thanks to Nuffnang for the movie premier screening passes.

Director: Raja Gosnell
Writers: J. David Stem (screenplay), David N. Weiss (screenplay)
Stars: Hank Azaria, Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays

Synopsis:
The evil wizard Gargamel creates a couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties that he hopes will let him harness the all-powerful, magical Smurf-essence. But when he discovers that only a real Smurf can give him what he wants, and only a secret spell that Smurfette knows can turn the Naughties into real Smurfs, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette and brings her to Paris, where he has been winning the adoration of millions as the world¹s greatest sorcerer. It's up to Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity to return to our world, reunite with their human friends Patrick and Grace Winslow, and rescue her! Will Smurfette, who has always felt different from the other Smurfs, find a new connection with the Naughties Vexy and Hackus or will the Smurfs convince her that their love for her is True Blue?

Conclusion: It's somehow entertaining thanks to Azrael (Gargamel's cat) again, Hackus and Vanity Smurf. As usual, Garbage Smell... opps I mean Gargamel the villain has the most screen time. Somehow I feel that the storyline was still quite predictable, yet another mission to save one of the Smurfs. Last time it was Clumsy and now it's Smurfette, who's next? Papa Smurf? Vanity Smurf with his vain dialogue was quite funny at first but sort of getting annoying along the way. Still a good watch for kids and family and somehow I must mention here that TGV has really improved on their cinema hall in terms of the seats and air-con temperature (no longer stuffy too) or maybe cause 1U's outlet is newer compared to KLCC's.
