Pim's & the RAMA at Aman Suria Damansara (Food Review)

I do enjoy having good Thai food not only in the origin country itself but also the ones in Malaysia since they are well improved to cater our taste bud. There's a plenty of Thai restaurants which I have been to but I did not get to blog about it. Fortunately, I am now blogging about the my experience dining at Pim's & the RAMA Thai restaurant and bar. So not too long ago, I dropped by at the place which is located in Aman Suria Damansara.

The very main attraction at Pim's & the RAMA is their Pim's Super Seafood Tom Yum Pot which is filled with 13 type of ingredients that consist of various seafood, eggs, vegetables and noodles. Looking at the pot alone had me salivating even at this moment of writing. The pot is filled with freshly picked ingredients and the tom yum broth is rich with its distinct hot and sour flavours from the fragrant spices and herbs. There's different sizes pot from RM88 (1-2pax), RM155.00 (3-4pax) and RM288 (6-8pax).

Just look at the size of the pot. I wouldn't mind having it every week from time to time. If you are trying to be more adventurous, maybe you can order a small pot just for yourself!

The Thai BBQ Pork Sticks (Moo Ping or Moo Yang on a stick) is my favorite street food when I was travelling in Thailand. It's sweet, savoury and comes with a spicy sauce dipping. The price is RM12.00 and comes in three sticks.

Next dish is something very familiar to those who have travelled to Thailand many times. It's the Pad Thai Kung or Pad Thai Prawn Noodles (RM16.50). The noodles were soft but has a nice chewy texture and the prawns were quite springy. If you have no idea what to order, just order the Pad Thai.

The Thai Original Somtam (RM18.00) is a Thai green papaya salad that has a very good kick of spiciness. The taste was actually quite refreshing and good to be eaten as an appetizer.

Here comes the fishes. The Pra Ka Pong Neng Ma Nao or Fresh Siakap Fish Steamed with Chilli and Lime Soup (RM66.00) was nicely cooked and all the ingredients are blended very well into the fish. The sea bass didn't taste fishy at all and it has a very soft texture. For those who love steam fish, this is a must order for you.

The Pra Ka Pong Lad Prik or Boneless & Deep Fried Siakap Fish (RM68.00) is one of my favorite dish. I do enjoy eating deep fried fish a lot since I like the outer layer fish skin which being deep fried but the flesh inside still remain soft. The sweet and sour flavor of the sauce was quite tasty and goes very well with the fish. Just gotta be careful that some parts of the fish are not entirely boneless.

The next dish is the Thai version of Otak Otak. It's the Hor Mok Talay or Otak Otak Seafood (RM25.50) and it's really different from our own. I quite like the softness of the otak otak that have incorporated with different kind of spices. It goes very well with just a plate of plain rice.

Another pork dish is the Thai BBQ Grilled Pork Neck (Kor Moo Yang) RM19.00. In my life, I did not have a lot of pork neck. I probably can count them but this pork neck is really to die for. This is different from the char siew that we can get from the Chinese shops. It's quite moist but the pork neck has a good ratio of meat and fat. I would definitely order this again in my next visit.

The next dish may look fancy but it's actually called, I'm A Thai Pandan Chicken (RM18.90/4pcs). Just like the usual pandan chicken dishes but this one has more depth on the sauce and it has the perfect dipping sauce to go with. Although I like pandan chicken, the price may be a little on the pricey side.

The Kao Ka Moo or Thai Pork Leg on Rice (RM15.90) might look simple but it's actually quite decent. The pork leg is very tender with the softness of the fat and the soft boiled egg is nicely done. It came to my surprise that the rice was very tasty. Not something I usually have, not even something like the Dragon AAA Thai Fragrant Rice that I had before.

Then I tried something I have never tasted before, it's the Tod Man Gong or Signature Fried Prawn Donuts (RM18.90/4pcs). Inside the donut, it's packed with mixture of prawn fillings. It's advisable to eat it while it's still hot or else you would be missing the crispy texture of the outer donut layer.

The Yan Ta Fo (RM39.00) is a Thai pink noodle soup and filled with bean curds, mushrooms, fish balls, vegetables and many more. Some might not enjoy the taste of the pink noodle soup but this one was quite decent. The size of this pink noodle soup is great for sharing too.

Last but not least, it's one my favorite Thai dishes. The Gang Kaw Wan Kai or Thai Green Curry Chicken (RM28.00) is something that I would order whenever I visit a Thai restaurant. This green curry consist of coconut milk, green curry paste, palm sugar, fish sauce, kaffir lime leaves, Thai basil and chicken. This pot is quite enjoyable to me and the chicken were quite tender. I would order this automatically next time.

As for the drinks, I ordered the Thai Iced Royal Milk Tea (RM5.50) on the left and some of us ordered the Thai Purple Drink with Lime (RM5.50). I enjoyed the Thai Iced Royal Milk Tea and the price is actually quite okay.

For those who are into Chang Beer, you can check out their promotion. The price is quite good in my opinion since many places elsewhere usually only offer Tiger Beer or Carslberg at that price. You can also print your Instagram photos by including their hashtag #PIMSRAMATHAI at the restaurant.

An interior shot of the restaurant. They do allow diners to combine the table so that it can cater 8 or more pax. I do recommend to my readers to try out the place. Although the price might be on the higher side but everything will still come down to the food quality, taste and the comfortable setting that they are offering.
