Demam Bola with Shopee: In Search of Malaysia’s Most Loved Football Team

With the much-anticipated 2018 World Cup and Shopee Piala FA Malaysia finals around the corner, Shopee is having a month-long Demam Bola with Shopee campaign from 14 June to 15 July 2018.

Fans can look forward to winning an exclusive invite to the Shopee World Cup Final Viewing Party on 15 July 2018 by participating in the ‘Malaysia’s Most Loved Football team’ contest featuring favourite Malaysian teams such as JDT, Pahang FA and Kedah FA. The contest, which honours Malaysian football teams and local talents, will run every Monday and Thursday throughout the duration of the campaign via Shopee’s official Facebook page. To be on the leaderboard for ‘Malaysia’s Most Loved Football team’, users will first need to vote for their favourite team, then excel in mini games including fun football trivia, predict the score contests and much more. Shopping on Shopee will also earn users points.

“It is not always that we have the World Cup coincide with our very own Shopee Piala FA Malaysia. So, we decided to bring the love of the sport to our users by putting together this Demam Bola campaign. As the title sponsor of the Shopee Piala FA Malaysia 2018, this campaign is extra special to us. When we made this decision to partner the Malaysia Football League, our goal was to assist in increasing the revenue streams for the Malaysian clubs - through supporting Shopee Piala FA Malaysia and Malaysia Super League ticket and merchandise sales on our platform,” said Ian Ho, Shopee’s Regional Managing Director.

Ho added, “However, more than just selling tickets for Malaysian football clubs, Shopee is dedicated to supporting local talent, and we wanted to be able to promote the local football scene further. That meant getting more people to the stadiums - hence Shopee launched the Buy 1 Free 1 promotion for ticket purchase on Shopee. Building on that effort, we married the hype of the World Cup with the local Malaysian football scene and launched the Demam Bola campaign, to encourage Malaysians to show their support and pay homage to the local teams. In return, we will thank the fans by throwing an exclusive Shopee World Cup Final Viewing Party. This is also our way of keeping things interesting for our users.”

As a reward to diehard fans, the viewing party will take place at the winning team’s state, which will be announced on 29 June 2018. Apart from that, fans of the winning team will also walk away with cash vouchers of up to RM500,000. Shopee will also announce weekly MVPs every Wednesday for users who accumulated the most number of points during the week.

During this period, fans can gear up for football must-haves with amazing deals of up to 90% off on sporting apparels and equipment on Shopee. Those who want to organise their very own viewing parties at home can look to Shopee for convenient access to everything they need at rock-bottom prices – from high definition televisions, projectors, surround sound systems, barbeque pits, snacks and more.

However, since nothing beats the drama, controversy and atmosphere of watching football live at stadiums, Shopee users will be pleased to know that they can continue to enjoy Buy 1 Free 1 Shocking Sale promotion for the Shopee Piala FA Malaysia semi-finals and Malaysia Super League matches.
