The X Bangsar @ Jalan Telawi 3 (Food Review)

Recently, I was invited to check out some of the signature dishes and new menu at The X Bangsar. It's hard to be missed as its location is on the street of Jalan Telawi 3, in between Bangsar Village and Bangsar Village 2 shopping centre. The X is all about good eats, fresh beats and great peeps!

Opens daily from 4pm onward, where patrons are usually looking for a cool place to chill with good food and drinks while being entertained with some R&B tune. So without further ado, let's check out what The X has to offer.

We started off with eight glasses of cocktails which are listed under The X Cocktails menu.

Each cocktail has its own distinctive flavour and is unique from one another and specially prepared to cater different taste buds of every individuals.

L: Drunk In Love – gin, coconut water and pandan syrup.
R: Dillema – whiskey, SHOTT lemon ginger honey, lemon juice and egg white.

L: No Diggity – vodka, elder flower syrup and grape fruit juice.
R: Ain't No Sunshine – vodka, malibu, galliano and lime juice, ginger.

L: Survivor – vodka, apple liquor, apple juice, lime juice, and SHOTT apple.
R: Gin & Juice – gin, monin yuzu fruit mix, lemon juice, egg white and kaffir leaf.

L: 24K Magic – brandy, SHOTT lemon, ginger honey and cinnamon stick.
R: When Doves Cry – gin, pandan infusement, lemon and angostura bitters.

Out of the eight cocktails, my favorite is 'Dillema' and it's also worth mentioning is the 'Gin & Juice' which was really flavourful and not overly sweet. Done with the cocktail, let's talk about their food now.

We started off with a few snacks, the first of the two was the Smoked Duck Wakame. This is a dish that consisting of sliced duck breast with ebiko and mizkan sauce. The duck meat was nicely done and taste great with the sauce. It didn't taste like it's from the breast part as the meat was soft and tender.

The second snack was the Cherry Tomato Bruschetta that has cherry tomato confit with pesto, mini charcoal bun. If you love pesto like me, surely you will enjoy this as I did.

There's always a need to have a plate of salad to balance out the nutrition value for the coming dishes. We had the Citrus Smoked Duck Salad – mix salad, orange wedges, red cili padi with honey mustard dressing & baby tomato relish. It was my first time having salad with cili padi and it gave a hint of spiciness along with the refreshing salad taste.

Next, we had the Crispy Black Pepper Chicken Wrap and this was one of my favourite dish on that evening. It has crispy chicken strips, mixed salad, tomato, cucumber, black pepper & sliced cheese and comes with a side of fries and a small salad. The chicken strip was pretty generous and it was delicious.

For something to share with, I would recommend the Chicken Sesame pizza. This pizza consist of grilled chicken, tomato concasse, mozzarella cheese, pineapple, capsicum, black olives and goma sauce or also known as Japanese sesame sauce.

Then, there's these cute little sliders which are the chef recommend and it's the Lamb Slider that comes with thick and juicy lamb patties. All sliders are served with Japanese bamboo charcoal bun which I personally think that it has potential to go head on with the charcoal bun from myBurgerLab.

If you are in the mood for something local, you can try one of the Asian dish which is called The X Angel Laksa. This bowl of laksa noodle comes with tuna, red chillies, Japanese cucumber, boiled egg, mint leaf, shallot and lime topped with Crab meat.

Many of you know that I enjoyed spicy food and the Prawn Aglio Olio dish was one of my favourite at The X Bangsar. This dish consists of squid ink linguine, extra virgin olive oil, white wine, garlic, chilli, parsley, tiger prawns and shaved parmesan. The prawns were huge and sweet! The linguine itself was cooked perfectly and the kick from the chilli will only come after a few seconds consuming it. I wouldn't mind finishing this Prawn Aglio Olio by myself if it's not because I need to space some stomach space for the rest.

Finally it's time for the main course. We had the chef recommended dish, the Grilled Barramundi with Chickpea Salad served with chickpea, red chillies, coriander onion and lime juice. I find that the addition of the chickpea with the fish was quite interesting.

For the final dish, we had the 180grams of Australian rib eye steak (medium rare) which is called The X Steak. It comes with roasted potatoes, mixed salad and black pepper gravy. I personally prefer the sirloin steak for its more leaner meat but the rib eye is more robust in terms of the flavour. Which one do you prefer? Do let me know in the comment down below.

Before ending this post, here are some of the interior shots of The X Bangsar.

All in all, The X is definitely a nice spot to go to if you are looking for place to have good food paired with some of their cocktail choices in the heart of Bangsar.
