Escape Plan: The Extractors (Movie Review)

On the 9th of July, I was invited to catch the movie premier screening of Escape Plan: The Extractors. In the past, I have watched Escape Plan (2013) and Escape Plan 2: Hades (2018) so I did anticipate for this sequel.

Award-winning Chinese action star Zhang Jin who “fought his way” into Hollywood is collaborating on screen with action legend Sylvester Stallone in his latest movie “Escape Plan: The Extractors”. This third and final installation of the action-packed franchise also brought back Dave Bautista, who was casted in the second “Escape Plan”.

Similar to the two previous movies, the third sequel is about prison break. Stallone stars as a prison escape artist or “security expert” who spends his life getting into prisons to study their designs and exploit their weaknesses.

In the original movie, he was duped and trapped in a prison that was designed according to his own book. Teaming up with his fellow inmate, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, they managed to use their own skills and intelligence to escape the most impenetrable prison.

The following sequel “Escape Plan 2: Hades” features former professional wrestler, Dave Bautista, who played the character “Drax” in “Guardians of the Galaxy”. In this movie, Stallone and Bautista had to enter the most elaborated high-tech prison Hades in order to rescue his trusted operative who was kidnapped.

Bautista made a reappearance in this final installation “Escape Plan: The Extractors” as part of Stallone’s rescue team.

The story is about their task in rescuing the kidnapped daughter of a Hong Kong tech mogul. This time not only Stallone will be facing a sadistic foe, who happens to be the son of his former enemy, but his girlfriend is also captured in the formidable Latvian prison.

Zhang Jin’s impressive martial arts performance has attracted the attention of Stallone, who invited him to join him in this movie. He has been keeping Zhang Jin’s character a secret, only revealing that his is one of the “key characters”. This is the second time Zhang Jin working with Bautista, after the movie “Master Z: The Ip Man Legacy”. Audience can expect many explosive action scenes from them.

“Escape Plan: The Extractors” is directed by John Herzfeld, scripted by Miles Chapman. This sequel sees the return of Stallone, Dave Bautista, Jaime King and Tyler Jon Olson, while adding in new blood Zhang Jin, Devon Sawa and Malese Jow. Check out the movie trailer below:-

ESCAPE PLAN: THE EXTRACTORS
Release Date: 11th July 2019
Language: English
Genre: Action (rated-18)
Director: John Herzfeld
Cast : Sylvester Stallone (Rambo, Expendables), Dave Bautista (Marvel Guardian Of Galaxy), Zhang Jin (IP Man Master Z), Jaime King (Pearl Habour) and 50 Cent (Den Of Thieves)

Sylvester Stallone is 73 years old and he definitely still got it and I am pleased that Dave Bautista is getting into more films lately. Personally, I feel that Escape Plan: The Extractors is gorier than the past two films. So if you are planning to watch this movie, you can have a better understanding of what's going on in the past by watching the first Escape Plan released in the year 2013, plus there's Arnold Schwarzenegger in that movie.

.: Peace Out :.
