TIKI BBQ Seafood Dinner at Kontiki Restaurant, The Federal Kuala Lumpur

Last month, I was invited to check out a scrumptious buffet seafood dinner at Kontiki Restaurant which is located at The Federal Kuala Lumpur. Since their reopening on 15th July, they have started a culinary celebration of BBQ feasts and the unique blend of Asian and Continental favourites with wide selections of food called TIKI BBQ Seafood Dinner.

If you've been enjoying the delicious takeaway menu from the kitchen of KarmaRestaurant, you will be delighted to know that the Kontiki Restaurant is now open for dine-ins. 

Kontiki provides a safe and clean hygienic environment during this RMCO period by reducing the number of tables in the restaurant to maintain social distancing norms and all their service personnel will be wearing protective gear as required by local health guidelines.

Kontiki, the place to pick for dining at the poolside for weekends. Serving the best of BBQ at the Cylinder BBQ station is one of its kind in Malaysia. Be enticed by aromas of perfectly barbequed at the Cylinder BBQ Section your choice cuts of beef steak, lamb cutlet, juicy sausages, yummy BBQ chicken wings.

For the start of dining, simply kick off with the Appetizer, cold Platter and salad bar. The variety is plenty such as seafood on ice comprising tiger prawns, 1/2 shell mussels, cold roasted beef or lamb; fresh salad bar offers the fresh ingredients that comprised Western, Chinese and Malay style such as the tossed salad with mix of 6 types – sausage, coleslaw, capsicum, chicken ham, pasta, seafood a tuna; or plain salad; Malaysian Kerabu, rojak buah, assorted fruit pickled and cocktail pickled with dressing of honey mustard, thousand salad, Caesar dressing, tartar sauce, pesto, mayonnaise and olive oil. The scrumptious buffet offers varieties of local and continental savouries to stir your palate. 

Beef Wellington

The list includes sushi; satay with condiments; roasted la steamed chicken. Buffet carving stations include roasted whole lamb rack, Beef Wellington; baked whole salmon fish; served with sauce of mint, mushroom, black pepper, rosemary, cream white herbs and BBQ. Our chefs have prepared yummy main dishes to cater to different taste buds.

What about seafood? Their BBQ seafood varieties are the slipper lobster, large squid, fresh water prawn, tiger prawns, and flower crabs, oysters and sushi too. Adding to the excitement in this new norm are our Kontiki Team will go round the restaurant to serve all the hot dishes by a push cart.

Serving the best soup as favoured by many diners, Chef will prepare the soupy delicious soup such cream of cauliflower soup; cream of pumpkin or cream of mushroom soup. For those with a sweet tooth, check out our signature dessert such as assorted mini French pastry; mango pudding, Apple in Filo with Strawberry Colitis; Agar-Agar; Chocolate Eclair, just to name a few.

My top three favourites are the roasted lamb, seafood on ice and the chicken and beef satay (satay taste really great although the waiting time was quite long, I waited for about half an hour for my satay). I had a peace of mind dining in Kontiki knowing that they practice social distancing and every staff wearing protective gear when handling the food.

TIKI BBQ Seafood Dinner is only available every Friday and Saturday from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
