Baan Korat Thai Restaurant (Non Halal) Food Review @ Bandar Baru Klang

Dear all, I hope everyone is doing well in this second week of 2021 and staying safe in this time of pandemic. For this blog entry, I will be reviewing a Thai cuisine restaurant called Baan Korat Thai Restaurant which is located in Bandar Baru Klang. As some of you who know me personally or been following my blog for many years, I am a very big fan of authentic Thai cuisine so do read till the end to find out my thought on this restaurant.

Baan Korat Thai Restaurant specializes in Thai food and they currently offers Authentic Thai clay-pot steamboat (Jim Jum), Tom Yum Mama, Creamy Seafood Tom Yum, Fragrant Green Curry, Grilled Salted Fish, Pork Skewers and many more. On top of that, you can also get your refreshing Thai beer to go with the food such as Leo, Singha and Chang beer as well.

I'm salivating right now as I am writing this review. Let's not waste our time and we head straight to the food now.

As for starter, we had the Otak-Otak and Moo Ping (Thai style pork skewers). The Otak-Otak (RM15) comes in two slices and it's quite thick that filled with savouriness and good combination of ground fish meat with spices. This dish can go very well together with a bowl of warm rice.

Their Moo Ping (RM3 per skewer) which is one of the staple street food in Thailand are delicious. Tender pork skewers paired with their home made sauce, it's delightful! The tanginess of the sauce works very well with the sweetness from the Moo Ping and I wish I have it again right now.

Next up, it's the Jim Jum Pork Soup (RM39.90) that includes variety of seafood, pork, an egg, tofu, rolls and also a basket of mixed vegetables.

This is the clear type of Jim Jum that is quite nice to have during the rainy days as it warms our tummy with every spoonful of it. If you prefer Tom Yum soup, they can prepare it for you with an additional fee of RM2.

The ingredients provided are fresh and we can simply dump it in to cook in just minutes!

For the next main, we had the ever popular mamas noodle (Pork RM28, Seafood RM35, Mixed RM38).

If you love spicy food then this is a good choice. I absolutely love all the elements in this mama noodles but put in mind that you have to quickly eat the noodles before they expand. Even at RM38, I still think that it's a great value as this dish can easily feed two person.

As for the final dish, we had the Steamed Siakap Fish (RM38). It's been a while since I last had a good steamed fish due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation but I am glad that I had this. The fish taste is fresh and soft topped with lots of garlic, coriander, red chilli and lime slices. It's simply refreshing and we think the price was quite reasonable too. With that, we washed down the food with two beverages as you can see below.

Chai Yen (Thai Milk Tea) RM5. Tea taste is not watered down at all!

Lemongrass (RM3). What can I say? It's refreshing and only cost 3 bucks!

If you're a fan of kombucha, they have them as well. The 'good booch' kombucha (RM12.50 each) comes in four flavours which are the Original, Passion Fruit, Pineapple and Ginger Lemon.

Sitting in the restaurant for more than an hour doesn't feel warm but it's quite windy thanks to the sufficient fan and air cooler. Perhaps it will be better with slightly warmer lighting and more Thai style decorations on the interior.

Final verdict: It's good! I will return again if I'm in Klang area. Too bad I live far away otherwise I will be visiting them on a weekly basis.

Wow! That's a delicious banquet meal that befits an Emperor like you. If you have followed my blog for years, you would also know that I grew up and lived in Thailand during my young days at my mother's hometown. So you should invite me to enjoy authentic Thai meals with you bro..

The name Korat makes me guess that their cooking is the Thai Isaan style. The Steamed Siakap Fish (RM38) is very cheap for its big size. Yesterday I ate a fried fish with Assam Sauce in Taman Desa for RM60 a plate. Their fish was only half size.

I taught about the Korat Plateau when I was teaching Geography.

Wowwww!!!! They sure brought Mama instant noodles to a whole new level - tried that and blogged about it before. I would love their Otak-Otak and Moo Ping, I'm sure!
