Syrian House Restaurant @ Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur (Halal Food Review)

I'm back again for another food review and seems like the month of March is pack with a lot of review session but nevertheless I am keeping my social distancing in check and following all the required SOP. I hope that you are doing the same too. In this post, I will be introducing you with a Middle Eastern cuisine & BBQ Specialist restaurant called, Syrian House Restaurant. Located at Kampung Baru in KL, the establishment for good middle eastern cuisine has been around for many years. So now they have new family menus to offer that are bang for the buck!

CHAK!! Here's my excited face and I was pretty shock to look at the price on the menu with all the dishes and drinks being offered!

Ice lemon tea jug, not skimping on the lime and tea which was really refreshing.

There's also the Arabic Tea Pot which looks presentable here for those who prefer to drink something warm instead of cold.

For starters, we had the oriental salad with naan and various kind of humus. I always have this mindset that middle eastern cuisine is always dry and blend but this dish proved me wrong. I enjoyed every single dishes and it was quite refreshing as well.

As for the main course, we can choose to have the set of rice with chicken or lamb. The rice consist of Mandi, Kabsa, Biryani and Maqluba. They were all really fluffy and the spices are quite well balanced. It's not as filling as having a full bowl of white rice at all. The protein was nicely cooked and marinated adequately especially the lamb which was incredibly tender. It also comes with either chicken or lamb soup.

Next we had the grilled Middle Eastern Chicken, Lamb and Beef Kebabs with a side of French Fries. The kebabs taste great but some of them can be a little dry so I recommend you that you eat it together with the sauces or hummus.

As for desserts, there's a huge portion of Mix Fruits to cool down our body after the heavy meal!

Halawat el Jibn, or the sweetness of cheese, is a very popular Syrian dessert. This dish is made of a thin layer of phyllo pastry rolled with cheese and a custard like heavy cream.

Syrian dessert – Kunafeh topped with pistachios. It is sweet, rich, crunchy and creamy. Made of semolina dough and thin noodle-like phyllo pastry and stuffed with a white soft Nabulsi cheese. Highly recommended!

Pure mango juice without ice and additional sugar. Super rich and sweet! If you are craving for mango juice, this can easily cure your craving for at least a month!

One of my favorite coffee – Turkish coffee that was filled with the fragrant cardamom and it did not taste sour or acidic to me. If you know me personally, you will know that I'm not a fan of acidic coffee and I have set up my own coffee company @KohiKulture since I enjoy making a less acidic coffee.

Here's the menu for the family set above starting from RM75 to RM200. I would say it's a pretty good deal for a group of 4 or 8 pax.

This looks like a very comfortable place to chill after a heavy meal.

Upon walking into the restaurant, I was mesmerized by this foamy well. Hahaha...

Very cool looking middle eastern dining interior.
It's quite comfortable to sit in even on a sunny afternoon.
