My Top 10 Gadgets Wish List in 2021!

It's almost the second half of 2021 and there are plenty of new gadgets released in late 2020 and earlier this year. Since we are still going through the Covid-19 pandemic period, I tend to spend more and more time with my older gadgets and I discovered that some of them aren't able to perform at the peak performance anymore especially when there's no longer OS or firmware update available. Hardware issues such as the display screen and battery lifespan have also become a daily annoyance to me.

So here are my top 10 gadgets wish list this year.

('Hint, hint'... for my upcoming birthday and Christmas gift):-

1. Amazfit T-Rex Pro (RRP: RM659.00)

The Amazfit T-Rex Pro Equipped with a 1.3-inch AMOLED display, the T-Rex Pro also offers a water-resistance rating of 10 ATM which means that it can withstand a water depth of up to 100 meters. In addition to having a heart rate sensor, the watch also comes with plenty of other sensors including blood oxygen (SpO2), accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic (compass), ambient light, and barometric altimeter.

It can support four satellite navigation services including GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo. In terms of workout tracking, the watch which works in hand with the analytical algorithm from the world-famous FirstBeat is apparently able to cover more than 100 types of workouts while the company’s own ExerSense algorithm can also detect and record eight types of workout automatically including running, walking, and swimming.

Having passed 15 military-grade tests, the watch can battle through hot deserts, humid rainforests and polar glaciers. Basically, I am very rough with my watches with my active lifestyle. So I really do need something that is superbly durable for my day to day life.

2. GoPro Hero 9 Black (RRP: RM1,899.00)

Without a doubt, yes. The 5K sensor, return of the detachable lens, the addition of the MAX Lens Media Mod, and heaps of solid upgrades like Horizon Levelling make the Hero 9 a powerful tool for videographers as well as the front-facing screen making it even more appealing for vloggers.

GoPro Hero 9 Black also comes with a 1720mAh battery. There’s also software improvements like HyperSmooth 3.0 image stabilisation for “gimbal-like” footage. Other improvements include video bitrate, HDR, and the ability to shoot RAW photos.

I have always wanted a good action cam for outdoor vlogging purposes that can offer great video quality and stable footage as well.

3. Canon EOS M50 Mark II (RRP: from RM2,499.00)

The Canon EOS M50 Mark II is an excellent hybrid mirrorless camera that performs well for stills and video. With a couple of upgrades from the predecessor, it is capable to perform as well as other video cameras out there in the market.

Video tops out at 4K/24p with a heavy 1.5x crop, and autofocus in 4K is contrast-detect only. Full HD comes with Dual Pixel autofocus, and it can capture slow-motion up to 120p. On the stills side, a new electronic shutter option is available and burst speeds top out at 7.4fps with continuous autofocus. The camera is CIPA-rated to capture 305 images on a charge.

With its interchangeable canon lenses, it is one of the best camera for all my food and product reviews.

4. Sony Playstation 5 (RRP: RM1,869.00 & RM2,299.00)

Need I say more about this? Let's just skip the specifications description and just say this is currently the best game console out there. Despite having the shape of a wifi router or air purifier (Plash Speed 5) and do not come in black, it has been sold out everywhere in many countries including Malaysia.

With impressive graphic performance and great game titles such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, God of War, Hitman 3, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and many more, it is the best gaming experience a console can offer.

5. Mi Box S (RRP: RM329.00)

Released by Xiaomi, the Mi Box S is capable of 4K Ultra HD Streaming Media Player, Google Assistant, Chromecast built-in that includes voice remote control and powered by Android TV.

Now I can enjoy Netflix at home on my non-smart TV during this Movement Control Order (MCO) period. Everyone please avoid going out as much as possible. We can fight this!

6. Asus ROG Phone 5 (RRP: RM2,999.00)

The Asus ROG Phone 5 is featuring a 144Hz Display, Snapdragon 888 and up to 18GB of RAM. That's an insane amount of ram for a smartphone. It is also equipped with GameCool 5 solution that apparently features a new layout to help provide higher thermal efficiency according to ASUS. It includes positioning the CPU at the centre of the layout, so that heat can be dispersed evenly throughout the device with the help of a large 3D vapour chamber and a copious amount of graphite sheets.

Graphic heavy games such as Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile can be played at high frame rates and the ever so popular game like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is simply a piece of cake for this phone. Asus ROG Phone 5 is easily one of the best smartphone in Malaysia at the moment.

7. Edifier TWS1 (RRP: RM159.00)

The Edifier TWS1 true wireless earbuds solve one of the most common problems of the totally wireless breed: connection instability, thanks to Qualcomm True Wireless Stereo Plus integration. With the Qualcomm aptX enabled chip, music quality can be played at a higher definition lossless audio that can be effected due to compression of the music file.

It can also run for 8 hours and the charging case holds additional charge for 24 hours. That can last me a couple of weeks of usage since I normally use my earbud for about 2 hours a day.

8. iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2021 (RRP: RM4,799.00)

The 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display was built to deliver extreme brightness, deep blacks and subtle details. It’s perfect for viewing and editing high-brightness and high-contrast content like HDR photos and videos.

M1’s huge jump in performance, a groundbreaking extreme dynamic range experience on the 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, up to 2TB of high-speed storage, Thunderbolt expansion, a four-speaker audio system, pro cameras with LiDAR Scanner, blazing-fast 5G connectivity, an amazing video-calling experience with Center Stage — combined with the advanced features of iPadOS and a powerful pro app ecosystem all in a device.

I used to own the first generation of iPad Mini and it has never failed me in terms of media entertainment experience and scrolling through social media apps. The only reason why I had to sell it is because Apple no longer update its OS and so there's many apps that couldn't work due to its older OS version. This new iPad Pro 12.9-inch would definitely be a beast of a machine that will easily last me for at least 5 years.

9. MacBook Air 2020 (RRP: RM4,399.00)

The latest MacBook Air is the thinnest, lightest notebook, completely transformed by the Apple M1 chip. CPU speeds up to 3.5x faster. GPU speeds up to 5x faster. It's the most advanced Neural Engine for up to 9x faster machine learning. The longest battery life ever in a MacBook Air. And a silent, fanless design.

I have been longing to replace my 2011 13-inch MacBook Pro with the same reason as the iPad Mini that I used to own – the lack of OS update. I have watched many reviews on this MacBook Air reviews on Youtube and it can easily beat the previous 16-inch MacBook Pro in terms of rendering speed performance which I needed most for my work.

10. Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed (RRP: RM259.00)

Last but not least, I have listed the Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed wireless mouse at the final gadget in my wishlist. I am currently using the Razer Abyssus wired mouse and I can only say good things about it. The performance, the durability and the quality is just top notch but it can't get away from wear and tear of many years of using it.

The Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed is a gaming wireless mouse with high-speed transmission and lowest click latency and a dual-mode feature that grants us the freedom and precision to perform. I don't particularly play games on my computer but having precision cursor at a fast pace can help me in my graphic works. The ergonomic design and design of this wireless mouse are really good too.

.

So there you have it. Those are my top 10 gadgets wish list that I have for this year and maybe I will be changing some of them according to the new releases and I am anticipating more exciting gadgets to be released later this year. I am glad that despite having to live through the pandemic, I am still able to shop online from the comfort of my home and it saved me a lot of money with great discounts offered during the sales. Till then... peace out!
