The Best of Malaysian Food in Ali, Muthu and Ah Hock @ Publika, KL

The last time I've visited Ali, Muthu and Ah Hock was somewhere in 2019 before the whole pandemic thing happened. I was first introduced to them many years ago by a good friend of mine and we had our breakfast at one of their outlet in Petaling Street. Although it was crowded but the food was quite memorable especially the nasi lemak.

Fast forward to 2021, I finally had a chance to dine-in at one of their 12th outlet in Public, KL. A short introduction of Ali, Muthu and Ah Hock, it is a local kopitiam started by the 3 most basic friends from writing our karangan in school back in the days, Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock. They serve Malaysian dishes and favorite Malaysian drinks. A place where we can find the best of the best of Malaysian Dishes. A place where we can lepak all day and berborak with our friends (back when there's no covid-19 pandemic yet). BiARlah REAL is their tagline, which essentially means “Keep It Real”. From Nasi Lemak to our hospitality, they keep everything REAL at Ali, Muthu and Ah Hock.

Let's not waste anymore of our time and proceed to check out some of the local food and drinks that Ali, Muthu and Ah Hock has to offer.

For drinks, we ordered Kopi Ais, Cham Ais and Sirap Limau Ais. I always have my caffeine fixed in the morning so the 'kaw'ness of the Kopi Ais totally woke me up. I like that it's not too sweet but with strong coffee taste.

As for the food, their Nasi Lemak Ayam is like the staple food that most Malaysian will have every now and then and they did not disappoint. So far I've been to their Petaling Street, Oasis Square and now Publika, they managed to maintain their standard quite well.

Next up on my must order list is the Roti Bakar with Kaya and Butter. You can also order it as a set where it comes with a drink and two soft boiled eggs.

Trying out their Roti Jala with Chicken Curry for the first time, it basically tasted the same as the ones that I had during Hari Raya gathering at my muslim friend's house. The chicken and the sauce was nicely cooked and tender enough to with the roti jala. Yummilicious!

We also tried their Hainanese Chicken Chop which came in a huge portion. If you're a big eater or super hungry, you should order this for yourself otherwise sharing is always recommended.

Last but not least, we had the Mee Soto which was a surprise to me as it is quite flavourful but not too strong for my tastebud, delicious and has a nice aroma aftertaste. It's really different than the one I had in Sabah but well, I have tried 3 versions of Hokkien Mee in my life so I think it's totally fine.

Some interior shots of the Publika outlet, reminiscing of those old kopitiam with some modern touches. I like the window and metal grill. Really reminds me of those old kopitiams that I used to go to when I was a little boy.

Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock is located at Oasis Square, Ara Damansara; Menara LGB, TTDI; Publika; UOA Business Park, Shah Alam; Plaza Zurich, Bukit Damansara; The Sphere, Bangsar South; PJ 33; Jalan Balai Polis, Petaling Street; Dang Wangi; KL East; Menara Hap Seng and their newest outlet at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya.

Recently, they have launched the 3-in-1 White Coffee! As of now, I have heard that these new products are well received and a “hit” in the market. I have friends who actually bought this as a gift for their oversea friends. They are now available in all Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock oulets and 99 Speedmart around Klang Valley, Malacca* & Perak*! (*to be confirmed).

Every pack come with 15 sachets and you can grab these 3-in-1 White Coffee in variety of Original, Kurang Manis or Tak Mau Gula (Oh, the names are so Malaysian! Haha!). The recommended retail price for this is RM14 per pack.
