Pre-opening Ceremony of Decathlon’s New Flagship Store at Shoppes @ Four Seasons

On 11th of May 2022, I was invited to attend the pre-opening ceremony of Decathlon’s new flagship Store. Strategically located in the heart of bustling Kuala Lumpur, Decathlon’s new flagship store at Shoppes @ Four Seasons is set to become the first ever Decathlon store in the world that gives its customers more than just retail experience. It promises customers a unique Sports Experience Centre that incorporates lifestyle elements such as physiotherapy services, fitness studios with workout classes, a healthy eating restaurant and the first ever hotpod yoga in Southeast Asia.

Yes, you read that right! Decathlon KL City Centre knocks the ball out of the park with its sports centre that offers over 12,000 exclusive quality sports products alongside one-of-its-kind services. All these and more spread out across the 4,000 sqft store that caters to over 60 different types of sports. With this new store concept, Decathlon strives to sustainably make the pleasure and benefits of sport accessible to the many. In a nutshell, Sport is Decathlon.

Nawel D, Communication Leader for Decathlon giving the introduction speech and the event flow agenda of the day. I am pleased that she added a few sentences of Bahasa Malaysia into her speech.

“Decathlon KL City Centre will be the new disruptive business model; this concept is a first test for Decathlon Malaysia and also first in the world in Decathlon history. As Decathlon Malaysia, we adapt our business model to Malaysia and Malaysians. We launched our production “Made in Malaysia”, we do business with Malaysians, we complete our exclusive offer – yes, we design and conceptualize our own products with a R&D centre of 300 designers and 850 engineers - with our local partners which projects across our products and services. We achieve our mission, locally and we are different in this market. We adapt to the local sport market and we are here to make sport accessible to more sports lovers in Malaysia.” said Arnaud Sauret, Chief Executive Officer of Decathlon Malaysia.

 First-of-its-kind experience

At this new flagship store, sports enthusiasts literally scored a touchdown as they can now discover, explore and grow their passion under one roof. For a holistic experience, customers can test and buy the best sports products in the market on the spot, while at the same time discover and practice it at their premises. Complete with extraordinary sports classes, customers can ultimately challenge and train themselves at the store and then recover and maintain their physique with the assistance of on-site physiotherapists and healthy food. Aside from this, the store also acts as a platform for sports lovers to come together to share their passion and grow their love for sports by playing, eating and chilling with other like-minded athletes.

The service offered by Decathlon enables sports fanatics to try a product on the spot before making the purchase. Decathlon KL City Centre provides the space for customers to do so with their various workout and sporting classes offered.

Building a Sustainable Sports community

Arnaud added that Decathlon also aspires to build a sustainable sporting community through this flagship store and urged customers to join the MY Decathlon Club and make full use of not one, not two, but three Decastudios that are ready to receive passionate souls brimming with smiles and energy. Decathlon partners with Manic Studio by Evomania and Hot Yo Studio to give members a world-class workout experience. What’s more, Decathlon also partnered with Protech, Evomania Nutrition and Garmin to give customers the best of other sporting brands. Aside from this, members will also enjoy exclusive membership benefits. “This membership programme is designed to build a community of sports loving people around Decathlon products and services. Through this membership, we want our members to live the Decathlon experience to the fullest,” said Arnaud.

Proudly made in Malaysia! :D

As the saying goes – no pain, no gain!

In Decathlon, there is one thing the team lives by – after the effort comes the comfort! What better way to rest those fatigued muscles and rub the soreness away than by relaxing in luxurious comfort? In that aspect, Decathlon KL City Centre is all set to envelop customers in peace and serenity with its specially designed bathrooms and changing rooms that is not only made to cleanse the body but also the mind. Besides, there are two medical rooms by Physiowerkz – a Movement Dysfunctions Centre, equipped and ready to tend to pain, disabilities and other movement related problems.

This is done with their innovative Physiowerkz Movement Analysis and Treatment System (PMAT), that has been designed to accurately diagnose and help patients understand what sort of treatment their body actually needs. In addition, customers can also have a full body check-up when visiting the store to achieve maximum performance while engaging in their favourite sport.

After all that hard work, there is nothing better than recuperating and replenishing what the body lost with healthy food. Together with the healthy food partner Agrain, they opened up its first healthy restaurant in Decathlon KL City Centre, both brands are on a mission to make eating healthy simple and accessible. With food that is oven-baked only, most of the ingredients used are sourced directly from local farms in Malaysia and the sauces made from scratch in-house. Agrain also advocates for inclusivity in its food by catering to all diet preferences be it vegan, vegetarian, halal and the list goes on.

Aside from the physical store, Decathlon also has their very own mobile app that makes it even more convenient and accessible to all. This was done as part of its digital transformation efforts and a bid to keep up with technological times. With everything that Decathlon has to offer – both online and offline, this sports experience is going to turn a non-fan into a sports fan.

Kayak anyone? Might be very useful during the flood. Ooppss...

I am considering to get a foldable bike but I am attracted to the vintage / classic looking bike. Just look at the baby blue bike. What a beauty!

For those who always enjoy having picnic activities with family, you might wanna drop by Decathlon for some floats, picnic matt, beach balls or shelter tent.

They have a wide range of affordable tent for those who are into camping adventure.

Larger tent for a more comfortable experience camping with family or friends.

I managed to snap a quick photo with our national shuttler Vivian Hoo (official Protect LEGACY ambassador) and her partner Lim Chiew Sien. I wish the both of them all the best in the Thailand Open 2022!

Decathlon KL City Centre has officially open its door on the 14th of May 2022 (last Saturday).
