Just a couple weeks ago, I was invited to the launch event of OPPO Reno8 Series 5G, OPPO Pad Air and OPPO Enco Air2 Pro which took place at AVANTÉ Hotel in Petaling Jaya. The OPPO Reno8 Series 5G is designed to be a Portrait Expert in every aspect, Reno8 Pro 5G is equipped with OPPO’s first self-developed, dedicated imaging NPU, MariSilicon X. At the same launch event, the affordable OPPO Pad Air tablet was also launched alongside with OPPO Enco Air2 Pro true wireless noice cancellation earbuds. So let's talk about the smartphone first and then followed by the tablet and earbuds.
There are two models from OPPO Reno8 Series 5G which are the Reno8 5G and Reno8 Pro 5G.
Here are the similarities between the two phones:-
- 256GB internal storage, UFS 3.1
- Dual Nano-SIM slot but no external memory card slot
- 4,500 mAh battery with 80W fast charging and supports reverse charging
- Display has Corning Gorilla Glass 5
- Has 5G to boast among friends even though the network in Malaysia is so limited :(
- Bluetooth 5.3
- Has NFC feature for electronic payments and topping up the NFC Touch ’n Go card
- Same Dual Sony Flagship Sensors – the IMX709 for the front camera and the IMX766 for the rear camera.
- Can shoot 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps video on the rear camera and 1080p@30fps on the front camera.
- Both come with gyro Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS)
- Doesn’t come with a 3.5mm audio jack
These are the key differences between the two phones:
- MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset on the non pro while the pro has the more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max for computing power.
- 8GB RAM on the non pro and 12GB RAM on the pro for snappier multitasking operation.
- 6.4 inches screen, 83.9% screen-to-body ratio, 90Hz AMOLED display at 800 nits (peak) on the non pro while sporting 6.7 inches, 90.3% screen-to-body ratio, 120Hz AMOLED display at 950 nits (peak) on the pro
- Weight: 179g on the non pro, 183g on the pro.
- Colours: Shimmer Gold, Shimmer Black on the non pro and Glazed Green and Glazed Black on the pro.
- The non pro is equipped Super-Conductive Vapor Chamber (VC) Liquid Cooling System while the pro has Ultra-Conductive Cooling System for heat dissipation.
- MariSlicon X Imaging NPU is only available on the pro version.

Now for the OPPO Pad Air, it is lightweight at only 440g, 6.94mm thickness and its rear panel adopts the industry's first 3D finishing technology and exclusive metal splicing design, putting the main design idea of thinness and beauty into reality. Besides that, OPPO Pad Air also comes equipped with the new ColorOS for Pad system. It is efficient with smoother smart connection functions that will take the large-screen experience to a higher level.
OPPO Pad Air is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon® 680 Mobile Platform. Its eight-core architecture and AI System Booster 2.1 allow users to operate easily even when multitasking.
OPPO Pad Air sports a 10.36-inch 2K HD eye care display that has passed TÜV Rheinland's certification for low blue light eye protection. In addition, OPPO Pad Air is equipped with four super large speakers and supports Dolby Atmos. Its large 7,100 mAh battery allows you to watch videos for up to 12 hours, attend video conferences for 15 hours, or read e-books for 16 hours.
OPPO Pad Air runs on the newly upgraded ColorOS for Pad operating system. The tablet incorporates two new Multi-Screen Connect functions, namely file drag and drop and clipboard sharing, while maintaining the original unique functions for smart interactions, including two-finger split screen, four-finger floating window, and Smart Sidebar. When a phone is connected to the tablet, you can directly drag and drop photos and videos taken by the phone to the tablet for processing, making file transfers easier and faster. In addition, you can copy text on either device or paste it onto the other device. Such a seamless connection will enhance your productivity to a higher level.

Last but not least, OPPO has added the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro into their audio device lineup. This earbuds features a 12.4 mm titanized diaphragm driver, wide sound fields, potent bass, crystal-clear vocals, and active noise cancellation (ANC), the earbuds are built to deliver a live concert-like experience to its users, as if they’re diving into the scene.
The earbuds also feature a dual-mic + AI noise cancellation algorithm setup that’ll provide users with clear voice calls. In addition, the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro also supports Transparency Mode, so users can still hear their environments and stay alert without having to take the earbuds off.
The OPPO Enco Air2 Pro’s ergonomics have also been further improved with a brand-new smiling curve design. Not only will the charging case look like it’s smiling each time you open it, but the special design also allows 77% of the earbuds to be seen instead of the traditional 50%, making it much easier to take the earbuds out. The earbuds themselves also use a streamlined design to maximize wear comfort and minimize longtime wear fatigue. For users who are always anxious about their device’s battery, it’ll be a pleasure to hear that the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro can last up to 7 hours without its charging case. With the charging case, the earbuds can stream audio for up to 28 hours. It also supports OPPO Flash Charging, where just 10 minutes of charging will power 2 hours of playback time—the perfect amount for a day’s worth of music.
As for connectivity, the OPPO Enco Air2 Pro uses the binaural Bluetooth 5.2 low-latency transmission solution to ensure users can enjoy top-of-the-industry continuous playback. The earbuds will also automatically enter low latency mode when users are gaming. This feature can provide users with end-to-end latency as low as 94 ms, effectively minimizing the chances of unsynchronized audiovisuals and lost connectivity. The OPPO Enco Air2 Pro also comes with smart touch controls, such as double-tapping the earbuds to snap a picture, bringing wireless possibilities to a new level.
