Direct Flights from Vietjet to Melbourne and Sydney are Now Operating, and Further International Services to Follow

On its first flight from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietjet recently greeted approximately 400 passengers at Sydney International Airport. The airline also hosted a lively dance performance at Melbourne Airport to mark the beginning of service between Ho Chi Minh City and Melbourne.

Beginning with these inaugural flights, Vietjet will offer six weekly round-trip flights from Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in Vietnam, to Melbourne and Sydney. A twice-weekly service to Brisbane will start in June.

Speaking about the new flights, Vietjet Chief Operations Officer, Michael Hickey said: “The first two routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne and Sydney have proved Vietjet’s strong commitment to provide multiple services for Australians to explore Vietnam and other Asian destinations through our diverse classes of SkyBoss Business, SkyBoss, Deluxe and Eco. Vietjet’s affordable fares and dedicated services on new A330 aircraft will also ease traveling from Asia to the Oceania, making traveling in the region the most convenient ever in the coming time. Our inaugural flights have seen a full flight capacity both ways and we are thankful for the great responses from our passengers, partners and the governments of the two countries for making Vietjet’s new milestone memorable.”

Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Culbert said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Vietjet to Sydney Airport, as the airline will be providing a great low-cost option to this sought-after destination. Vietjet’s extensive domestic network will also deliver greater choice for passengers wanting to explore other cities across Vietnam. As Australia marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Vietnam, it’s fitting that our 50th airline is a Vietnamese carrier.”

Every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Vietjet is running a special sale on all Vietnam-Australia flights, with low rates starting at just USD0*.

Vietjet will fly from Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney three times a week using A330s, with the flights departing from Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays and arriving from Sydney on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, return flights from Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh City will depart.
