Canon MAXIFY GX4070 4 in 1 Wireless Ink Tank Printer (Review)

In a world of smartphones and emails, paperless documents are getting more and more popular. Having said that, we still can't eliminate the importance of having paper documents especially when we are dealing with important documents for businesses, legal related or educational studies. So in this post, I'll be reviewing the Canon MAXIFY GX4070.

This model is a high-performance wireless ink tank printer suitable for SMEs. It offers remarkable productivity for small work teams, this 4-in-1 inkjet printer provides ultra-affordable colour printing and a wide range of connectivity options. If you're an SME business owner, you might want to know why this printer is good for you.

First off, it's super easy to set up. I just plugged in the power cables on the printer, connect the provided usb cable on to my computer and it's ready to go. My Mac Mini detects the printer seamlessly or you can also connect it to your WiFi connection for wireless operation. By the way, it also works with your smartphone or tablet.

It can print 6,000 pages, or 9000 pages on economy mode with black ink, which is insanely a lot in comparison to a normal inkjet printer. In contrast, my current printer can only print at most about 400 pages. That's 22.5 times more with the Canon MAXIFY GX4070!

The font paper cassette tray can hold 250pcs of A4 paper. This can keep dust and dirt away from the paper unlike those common printers that only hold papers on top.

If you're a college or university student, 400 pages are definitely not enough and the frequency of replacing the inkjet cartridge will cost more after a period of time. With ultra-high page yield, these Canon GI-76 ink bottles are perfect for demanding office printing without worrying about ink costs.

It's easy to fill the ink tank back up.

The colour touch display on this printer was pretty useful as well for faster navigation and it's quite easy to use. This made the whole user experience more elevated or premium feeling than using a printer without a touch display.

The printing speed was also noticeable faster too thanks to its high speed printing capability. I test printed a Korean alphabet chart in colour that took less than 16 seconds while my current printer took 31 seconds, doubled the printing time. So that's definitely a big advantage for those who print a lot on a daily basis.

For your info, their quick-drying pigment ink ensures high-quality document printouts that resist fading or moisture and accidental exposure to water. Therefore, having that is unquestionably a good thing in case an accident involving water occurs. The black and colour printing quality are sharp, unquestionably better than the printer that I'm currently using.

If I had to select something, it would be the 9.5kg weight of this printer. It is not something that can be carried around easily, like a portable inkjet printer. I suppose that if the owner of this printer has chosen a location for it, I doubt that it will be moved again soon.

Size comparison to the Canon E470 printer which I am currently using.

Another thing is the photo printing quality. As you can see from the photographs I printed using Canon Glossy Photo Paper, the photo printing is unimpressive. It's still better to get a dedicated photo printer for this purpose. Below, you can view the photo's printing quality.

Who do I think this printer is for? Definitely for someone who needs to print a lot on a daily basis, has limited space at home or office and want it to print more efficiently than a inkjet printer with extra features on the side.

You can also use the Canon MAXIFY GX4070 for scanning, photocopying and fax as well.
