33rd Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta is Set to Boost Tourists' Arrival in Selangor

The 33rd Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta is officially commemorated by the Honourable Adam Adli, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport at the Royal Selangor Yacht Club. The event will take place for 9 days in Selangor, Perak, Pulau Pinang and Langkawi, Kedah.


An expected 320 cruisers with 32 boats will sail through the 260-mile offshore and coastal area of Selangor for three days. This year’s Regatta will be further enriched with FAM Trip programmes in Gamuda Cove, showcasing the breathtaking Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, Wetlands Arboretum Centre and Discovery Park.


The Honourable Ng Suee Lim, the EXCO of Local Government and Tourism in a statement said, “Sports tourism stands out as one of Selangor’s key strengths in attracting sports enthusiasts from around the world. From cycling tours to marathons, MotoGP and now the prestigious Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta; the state has become a hub for thrilling sporting events”.

“The Selangor State Government, through Tourism Selangor, proudly supports this event, fostering healthy competition and providing a platform for cultural exchange among participants. It is not just a sailing competition; it is a celebration of culture, arts and heritage, enriching Selangor’s tourism sector”, he added.


The organisation of sailing Games, such as the Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta, will attract a large number of foreign tourists and showcase Selangor as a credible sailing sports destination. This is in line with the Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere Campaign that is geared towards positioning Selangor on the global map.


The State of Selangor has welcomed over 22 million domestic visitors in 2022 which is the highest in Malaysia and the state is confident to achieve an increase of 5 million domestic and international tourists by the end of 2023. The tourism industry is set to be the state’s economic fulcrum by the Visit Selangor Year in 2025.
