I was at Canon's Created To Explore – EOS R8 Mark II Experience Tour 2026 event on 24 October 2026 at The Grounds KL. Canon Malaysia has officially launched its nationwide “Created To Explore” EOS R8 Mark II Experience Tour 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, bringing photographers, videographers and content creators together for hands-on access to the recently introduced EOS R8 Mark II.
“Created To Explore” brings photographers, videographers and creators closer to the EOS R8 Mark II through immersive shooting experiences, creator sharing sessions and community workshops across Malaysia.
Previously, I have attended the launch of the Canon EOS R6 Mark III and reviewed the Canon EOS R10 as well. You can click on the links to read them.

The nationwide programme is designed to provide creative communities across Malaysia with the opportunity to experience the EOS R8 Mark II first-hand, combining practical shooting opportunities with insights from Canon specialists and fellow creators. By taking the camera beyond the launch stage and into real-world use, Canon aims to inspire creators to explore new perspectives, empower them to push their creative boundaries and support their progression into full-frame photography and content creation.

Masato Yoshiie, President & CEO of Canon Marketing Malaysia, said,“Today, photography and storytelling are more than capturing what we see. They are about sharing our own ideas, perspectives and experiences with others. The EOS R8 Mark II reflects our commitment to giving photographers and content creators freedom and confidence to explore their creativity. Guided by our Kyosei philosophy of living and working together for the common good, Canon remains committed to supporting Malaysia’s creative community and creating more opportunities for creators to grow their craft. That is the spirit behind this Experience Tour.”

Edward Chang, Head of Division, Image Communication Business, Canon Marketing Malaysia, said,“The way people create today continues to evolve. For us at Canon, this means we need to stay close to the community, understand how creators work, and continue finding ways to support their growth. Beyond its features, we want you to see how the EOS R8 Mark II performs in different shooting situations and discover how it can fit into the way you create.”

The Kuala Lumpur event featured sessions by Canon EOS Specialist Marcus Choo, content creator ZY Cheng and Canon EOS Master Johnson Wee, who shared product insights and perspectives on photography, videography and content creation. Attendees also put the EOS R8 Mark II through its paces across five specially curated shooting scenes, including a live graffiti artist performance, model portrait shoot, dance battle, Muay Thai performance and skateboarding action. The varied setups were designed to challenge different shooting techniques across portraiture, movement and action, while enabling users to explore the camera’s capabilities in dynamic, real-world scenarios.
Building on the hands-on sessions, Canon will also introduce a “Created To Explore” photo contest at the Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kuching main events. Attendees will be invited to share photographs captured with the EOS R8 Mark II during the event, alongside their impressions of the camera and programme. The contest extends the creative challenge beyond the event itself, encouraging participants to put their own perspective into practice and showcase the images they create.
After Kuala Lumpur, “Created To Explore” will make its way to Penang on 31 October 2026 and Kuching on 7 November 2026, before reaching more photography communities through workshops in Kedah, Ipoh, Kota Bharu, Johor Bahru, Melaka, Kota Kinabalu and Kuantan throughout October and November, bringing Canon’s latest imaging technology and creative expertise to more photography communities across Malaysia.
Participants will also be able to purchase the EOS R8 Mark II at selected stops, while participating events will offer exclusive door gifts and complimentary camera and lens cleaning services for Canon equipment.
The EOS R8 Mark II body only starts at RM6,999 (MSRP)
