Creativity in Motion @ Bangsar Shopping Center

On the 23rd of July, 2011, Creativity in Motion show style was “in vogue”. Held at the gorgeous Bangsar shopping center in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s home of the bold and the beautiful, the once-a-year event attracted over 200 guests from the professional, media, retail, design, fashion, students and the general communities.

The fashion affair began with a reception where guests mingled and shopped around the mall.

Excitement and buzz surrounded its attractively merchandised ramp and welcome table that displayed the publications of Limkokwing University. Guests had an opportunity to learn also extensively about the products and services of the 21st century University.

On the ramp 25 young designers revealed a selection of unique lapis and crystal dress, turquoise pendants, elegant matador color designs and hand embroidered details, creative collections inspired by tradition, nature and paintings.

Associate Vice President Tiffanee Marie Lim states, “The fashion designers have this innate sense that makes them extra – aware of their environment and fuel this senses of creativity and make others beautiful”. This year the show had designers from Malaysia, India, Uganda, Indonesia, Mongolia e.t.c. 



The Flavors of the Moment

Following the reception, the designers showcased their collections, inspired by exotic elements such as seaweed, jellyfish, Indian sarees, Malay traditional weaving, tribal shamans and Korean sad paintings. 

The designers also unveiled a new line of stylish corporate look for women and men, a mixture the business signature look with messages of cultural understanding. One notable design is a white outfit with a splash of feathers on the neck caught the eye of many of the eminent that graced the absolute fashion show.

President of the Malaysian Designers Association (MODA) Gillian Hang, notes that the corporate look is “such a practical outfit,” she highlighted that the models accessorized the clothes they wore with recent excursion to rockaway New York street style, Queens and the European style. She notes these outfits were realistic, “You don’t have to think about coordinating tops and bottoms.”

“As always, my designs are inspired by tradition, the multi – cultural Malaysia, and uniting East and West through fashion. It is wonderful to see so many people, from all races and religions, reacting positively to them,” said fashion designer Lee Qiao Xin, Angeline from Malaysia. 

The runway was graced by Nadine Ann Thomas – Former Miss Malaysia and Model, Eva Lopa – upcoming student model and 40 Limkokwing models from 20 countries who wore the cutting edge inspirations. 

The event was attended by Malaysia’s crème della crème including; Malaysian Top international male Model – Wilson Tang Siong Ping, President of Malaysian Designers’ Association – Gillian Hang, renowned designer – Khoon Hooi, Loreal representatives, Dato Leeli and Limkokwing Vice Presidents Dato Gail Phung and Ms. Tiffanee Marie Lim. 

Global campuses

The only local University to have globalised Malaysian education, Limkokwing has twelve campuses housing 30,000 students from 150 countries worldwide. The Cyberjaya campus alone is home to 9,000 students most of whom are from 145 countries.

As for me, I personally think that the designers are very talented and it has been a really successful event through out the evening. I enjoy myself a lot and being treated like a VIP is one thing that I won't forget.
