Arthur's Day 2011 The Finale in Malaysia!

Arthur's Day 2011 the finale was happening on the Friday, 23 September 2011, located at the Speed City Kuala Lumpur. This year, as a reward from GUINNESS® Malaysia for a great 252 years, fans and consumers needed to attain these money-can’t-buy exclusive invites to the event. Some of them trying to sell it online but I think it's so easy to get free passes so why do we still need to buy them? Anyway, there was more than 20,000 fans partied the night away at the concert...

The culmination of the 24 hour global celebration here in Kuala Lumpur featured an EPIC live music concert by international music supremo - TAIO CRUZ and a stellar cast of local and regional acts such as SOLER, Mizz Nina, Dragon Red, Prema Yin, the Kartel group featuring Joe Flizzow, Take-T from Japan and Dandee from Thailand.
The fans!

A key initiative for the Arthur’s Day celebrations this year was to promote local emerging talent by providing them a platform to showcase their music locally and globally. In line with this, a competition was launched to discover up and coming Malaysian music acts to be part of the Arthur’s Day line-up. 6 talented local bands vied for the opportunity to perform with global and regional artistes in the music industry.

Some interactive game booth outside the concert entrance.

The three emcee for the night. They did an incredible job entertaining the audience while waiting for the performers to perform on stage.

The 2 winners – Dragon Red and Prema Yin, selected based on consumer votes performed to a rocking crowd at the Arthur’s Day concert as they kicked off the celebrations.

Prema Yin

Prema Yin said: “We are thrilled and excited to be part of the Arthur’s Day 2011 concert. It is certainly an EPIC experience for me to perform on the same stage as global icons in the music industry. Thank you GUINNESS® for making my dream come true and for giving me this fantastic opportunity”.

“We would like to thank our fans for voting for us. We are extremely excited to be part of this global celebration. We would also like to thank GUINNESS® for the opportunity to be part of this EPIC event. The line-up for this year’s celebration is phenomenal and we had an awesome party with them and our fans!” said Landslyde from Dragon red.

Julio Acconci

Dino Acconci

I'm quite impressed with this rock band, especially when they started singing in Cantonese. Soler is a Hong Kong-based rock duo originally from Macau formed by twin brothers Julio Acconci (vocals/keyboard) and Dino Acconci (vocals/guitar), Soler made their Hong Kong debut in early 2005. Unlike many of the current artistes who resemble fabricated idols, Soler compose and write all their own music and are renowned for the quality of their live performances, and have been acclaimed by fans, fellow artistes and critics alike.

Mizz Nina - no introduction needed I supposed for this famous local artist.

Arthur’s Day is celebrated around the world to honour the date Arthur GUINNESS® signed a 9,000 year lease on the St James Gate Brewery in 1759, and whose legacy has brought us the globally celebrated iconic black brew, GUINNESS®.

Taio Cruz

He sang a few new songs from his current album which I've not heard it before...

I hope this wasn't one his gimmick. Through out the concert I believe it was lip sync and the song 'Higher' failed to bring the "high-ness" to the fans...

Confetti and fireworks at the end of the concert...

The worldwide celebrations saw millions of consumers in all continents across the world taking part in a global toast ‘To Arthur’ which started in Ireland at 17:59 on 22 September and ended in Kuala Lumpur at Speed City Selangor Turf Club on 23 September 2011. This year’s event continued to support the philanthropic legacy of Arthur Guinness through the Arthur Guinness Fund, which supports social entrepreneurship around the world.

So what do you think about this year's Athur's Day celebration?

To Arthur!

.: Peace Out :.
