U.S Potatoes Culinary Festival 2018's Menu Dining at Kingstreet Café

I have written about the U.S Potatoes Culinary Festival 2018 that involves 14 participating restaurants that using U.S Potatoes' fresh and frozen potatoes in the new and innovative dishes. I managed to try out some of the dishes here. So last Friday, I went to another participating restaurant, Kingstreet Café located in Taman Seputeh, Kuala Lumpur.

Seared smoked duck with U.S. Lattice Fries (RM21++)

Currently, Kingstreet Café is offering three new menu in conjunction of U.S Potatoes Culinary Festival 2018 as listed below:-

Brits Fish & Chip with U.S. Fries with oregano herbs
Seared smoked duck with U.S. Lattice Fries
Spiced U.S. Lattice Fries with cheese and salsa minced beef

Brits Fish & Chip with U.S. Fries with oregano herbs (RM32++)

On that evening, we get to sample two of the dishes and I will first talk about the Seared Smoked Duck with U.S. Lattice Fries. I like the U.S. Lattice Fries served on the side due to its crispiness. The seared smoked duck sandwich too was good. The duck meat was juicy and tender, slightly toward the sweet side but it's well balanced with the fries that came together.

As for the Brits Fish & Chip, it comes with U.S. Fries with oregano herbs and yes, mushy peas! That is definitely a must have element for any classic English fish and chips. I did enjoy the deep fried fish that has a strong fish taste and it's not blend at all.

Aside from Kingstreet Café, you can also check out the other participating outlet menus in Pietro (Damansara Height), Anne Elizabeth (Cheras), Delicious (Bangsar Village), Brew House (Sunway Giza), The Three Stooges (Sunway), Macaroni (Klang), Bresserie Fritz Troika (Bukit Bintang), Fuego Wolo (KLCC), The Roulette (Ara Damansara), Coffee Club (Mont Kiara), Michaelangelo (Pavilion KL), Piccolino (Old Klang Road) and Jibby & Co (Subang).

Types of U.S Potatoes used by the various outlets:

Fresh Potatoes
• U.S. Russet Potatoes.

Frozen Potatoes
• U.S. Lattice Cut
• U.S. Potato Wedges
• U.S. Shoestring Fries
• U.S. Mashed Potato
• U.S. Sidewinder Potato
• U.S. Straight Cut Fries
• U.S. Tater Tots
• U.S. Curly Fries
• U.S. Steak Fries
• U.S. Lattice Cut Fries

Craft beer was being served on that evening to pair with the dishes. For the Seared Smoked Duck sandwich, the Taco Wheat Ale (RM30) from Two Birds Brewery was the best to pair with. I love the fragrance from this craft beer and it happened to be quite smooth as well. The Mirror Pond Pale Ale (RM31) from Deschutes Brewery was recommended to go along with the fish and chips. This pale ale has a surprisingly unique taste, in comparison to other pale ale that I have tried – this tend to have a longer aftertaste. It's refreshing and somehow did help to clear my throat from all the fried dishes that I had earlier.

As what I have mentioned in my previous post, U.S. potatoes which are destined for processing met stringent standards for high "solids" and low sugar content – just right for creating frozen potato products with a desirable appearance, taste and texture. So for those who want to try out their products, don't miss out the special menu until end of July!

The organizer of U.S Potatoes Culinary Festival 2018 has also came up with a Most Creative Photo Contest and you can win yourself a grand prize of an Apple iPad 9.7 inch! There's only 4 steps to follow. Check out their Facebook page mentioned at the end of this post.
