Simply Mel's Food Review at The Sphere

Do you know what does the phrase above means? When it is translated into English, ‘Beng Naki Kumi’ simply means ‘Come here and eat!’ I am sure majority of you including myself are not familiar with the phrase but for Mel (short for Melba), she grew up with the 'Kristang' language, and still uses today with her children and grandchildren. Melba is now the head chef for Simply Mel's (a Malacca Portugese cuisine restaurant) and together with her daughter Alison, who runs the family business together. Let's take a look at what Simply Mel's have to offer! :D

As for starter, we had plenty of dishes. The first one is the Crab Stuffing (RM21.90). Waiting time for this dish is 15 minutes. The crab shells stuffed with shredded fresh crabmeat, diced turnip, carrots, prawns and onions. The stuffed crab shells are first fried and then baked and served hot and fresh. It is served with Mel’s homemade chili sauce. The taste of this dish is quite unique because I can taste the crab, prawn and chicken meat in every single bite. Personally this is my favorite! :D

The Cube Happening at Encorp Strand!

Two weeks ago, our nation celebrates Malaysia Day. As for me growing up in the land below the wind, Sabah, I have always been celebrating this historical event and it only started to be celebrated in the west Malaysia since 2 years ago. In conjunction of the Malaysia day, I attended the grand launch of Red Carpet Avenue and it was grand that they even invited YAB Tan Sri Dato' Hj Muhyiddin Hj. Yassin, our Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Impromptu @ Menara Hap Seng

Happy Malaysia Day!

I'm back again with more food review entry again and this time I would like to introduce a new makan place which is only about 3 months old. From what I know, the word Impromptu means a free-form musical composition with the character of an ex tempore improvisation as if prompted by the spirit of the moment, usually for a solo instrument, such as piano but in this case, this Impromptu is all about fusion HAND-MADE pasta, hot food, sandwiches and many more...

Located at the first floor of Menara Hap Seng.

Traditional Hakka Dish @ Big Big Bowl Cafe Kepong

Have you ever tried Hakka dishes before? If yes then I believe most of you might have heard about one of the Hakka dish which is called the Hakka Lui Cha (pounded tea) and I was given a great opportunity to be invited by Ivy to taste the Hakka dishes in Big Big Bowl Cafe. When I first heard about the name of this place, in my thought I was thinking that they must be serving food in a very huge bowl since the adjective of 'big' is being repeated twice in the cafe name but how big can the bowl be? I gladly invite you to continue reading the rest of my entry below.

Cocktail Mixing Workshop at Social@KL

On the 30th of July, I attended a Cocktail Mixing Workshop courtesy of TimeOut KL. It was my first time trying out to mix cocktail with the guidance and teaching from the professional. I've seen many events where the bartender or mixologist would prepare and present us the cocktail but mixing it in a proper method was never an experience for me until that very evening. The cocktail mixing workshop took place at Social@KL which located inside the GTower building. As I mention before in a my previous post, parking fees are RM2 per entry after 6pm. Plus it's walking distance from the Ampang Park LRT thus it's very convenient for the public to head over to this place.

Social@KL, located strategically at the ground and lower ground floor of GTower.

Contagion (2011) Movie Review

Thanks to this premiere screening courtesy of The Star and a friend who invited me, Daniel. I was honored to get to watch this movie two days before the official screening which is on the 8th of September, 2011. This show is starred by many well known cast and from the trailer that I've seen, this is not a typical virus-zombie-killing movie like Resident Evil, Zombieland, etc.

Arthur's Day 2011 @ The Beer Factory

Monday is here and I know some of you might just came back from the Hari Raya break. I hope each and everyone of you had a good break, well rested and ready to battle (study or work). As for me, I had a good time at Sitiawan, mostly pampering my stomach and still hoping to gain some weight from the trip. Anyway, I will post about that trip in a few days time. So for now let's take a look on the pictures on what's happening on the Arthur's Day which was happening on the 4th of August, 2011. Seems comic strip and cartoons blog are so famous nowadays, I would like to do something different in this entry (I did this before when I first started to blog actually).

*notes: this is just for laugh and gags, no offend ya! :D

The event kicked off at The Beer Factory at Sunway Giza, Kota Damansara.

Arsenal Asia Tour 2011 in Malaysia!

During my early days in my high school, I use to support Liverpool FC in the English Premier League and just because of them having players like Emile Heskey and Micheal Owen which that time was the youngest player to score goals for England team in the World Cup 1998. After a while I felt that the team didn't really progress well as a strong team in the league and they can't maintain their reputation as the top 3 strongest team. Anyway, I shifted myself from a Liverpool fanboy into the Gunners supported until today. It's more than 10 years now and Arsenal FC have experienced many good and bad times, mainly bad times but I still support them nevertheless.

If you did follow my blog from time to time, I'm sure many of you would remember that I've posted a contest organized by (the link here) and they are giving away a few Arsenal Asia Tour 2011 passes. I received an email saying that I won a pair of passes and headed straight to collect it the day after, I was pretty delighted at that time.
